Most interesting group. Every match will be enjoyable. I am rooting for Japan to cause an upset like Korea did last time and either Spain or Germany to be out in group stage

If Germany somehow defeats Spain, they will actually be through, since CR will lose all matches and not will go down to goal difference.
Three teams could be on six points at the end, and I can't see Japan outscoring Germany or Spain against CR.

in cases like that it should come down to H2H, not GD... it's a knockout competition not a league ffs

That's exactly the problem. It will reward scoring goals against the worst team in the WC, and Germany will know exactly how much they need to score to progress.
