Rami-Kos CB pairing dude... I was going to put money on France too per usual but then i remembered the abortion of a Euro Rami had in 2012. He can easily lose a game all by himself.

He is a joke but I mean other teams have major problems going in to this like Italy with a pathetic attack and 2 best midfielders out, Germany with all the width of a potato especially now that Lahm is gone, Spain being underwhelming etc.

Martial is being blocked by Payet at this point... I really want him to develop into a CF like he was at Lyon and Monaco. That's where his future lies imo.

Who said anything about martial ? U said Giroud was good today (or at least I took it that way). He wasnt. And I pointed only that, nothing more.

He scored a goal. In such tournaments you need the productivity like Payet's and Giroud's, flashy players like Griezmann, Pogba and Martial are not needed as much. That's why both start.

Deschamps will probably drop Griezmann for Coman next and see how that works. Payet-Giroud chemistry is France's biggest weapon, maybe Coman can join that.

First games are always complicated... too many emotions. Thankfully we won.

I wouldn't put much more on performances because players often emotionally burn themselves out in opening games of tournaments. The next game is more telling.

Griezmann and Pogba will be there. Despite being less than what they typically are... they still had 3 clear scoring chances between them.

Oh and Giroud did exactly what he's supposed to do. Scored a goal and had a presence. He played well... really well in fact.

Yea thought he was quite good. Wish he played like that for us as well.

Kante was great as well. Rami looks shit man.

Also Evra making that error was uncharacteristic.

Nah he wasn't this good. Inconsistent and had attitude problems... He stopped putting pressure on himself when he left for West Ham and let his game go. Now his confidence is sky high and he's riding it.

Always had great technique though... never a doubt there.

Happiness... this game had a lot of pressure. Even more than the typical first game of a hosting nation with huge expectations. In a way, everyone sees this team as a way to temporarily forget the problems. It's not like Brazil in 2014, which is thought was insane... but the pressure on the team is still relatively extreme.

Agreed with that. Think France will be a lot more confident and relaxed against Albania too. There was too much pressure(unnecessary) for them to blitz Romania. Despite the fact Romania are defensively one of the best teams in the competition.
