Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
tbh I don't see there being any noise this time tbh. It was a problem last year because Mou felt it was ok to talk about locker room stuff in public which divided people on Diego vs Iker
lets be real here Iker has been the best keeper for seasons upon seasons, him getting his spot back is long overdue

It should never have been taken from him, after all he's given. And at least after Mou leaving, I thought he'd get it back. But I suspect there's some presidential politics in all this.

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
Iker was a little complacent last season so I was ok with Lopez playing until Iker decided to get back to his level. As you said he should have started when the season began but Carlo I believe is too nice. Lopez hadn't exactly been bad, so for Carlo to say oh soz Lopez but Iker will get his spot back despite you being great last season without Iker having showed improvements yet (was away with spain) would have sent out the wrong message both to him and all our other goalkeepers. I think further on in the season is the pefect time to slowly slide him in without anyone noticing because he has performed so good.

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
Real Madrid star Iker Casillas insists he is not thinking about leaving the club and will not think about his future until his contract ends.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper, who has been linked with a summer move, is currently contracted to Real until 2017 and there is a clause which will see that extended by a further year if he plays 30 games or more in the final season of that deal.
Casillas is firmly of the belief that he can play until he is 40, and he admits he would love that to be with Real.
Casillas, who is a product of Real's own academy, has played over 600 games for the club since making his debut in 1999 and is also Spain's most capped player with over 150 appearances.
"I'm thinking more and more about what I'll do when I quit playing. I'd like to stay involved in football and help the club, if the circumstances allow it," he told Melodia FM,
"I can play on until I'm 40. If you look after yourself as a goalkeeper, you can carry on until that age.
"I'd love to be able to keep playing for Real Madrid until I'm 40, but a time will come when that's not possible. I'll consider my future at Real when my contract expires."
Casillas, who has won La Liga five times with Real and the Champions League twice, insists that silverware is still the thing that drives him.
"I'd like to keep winning trophies," he said.
"It's amazing to have the chance to win silverware and then go out and enjoy it with the fans on the street. It's a privilege".
Despite his success, Casillas concedes that he has had some good luck to get where he is.
"I think luck is like a story we sometimes hide behind. I remember things didn't go so well when I made my debut against Athletic, so I went back down to the B-team, but then Illgner got injured and I was promoted to the first team again," he said.
"Something similar happened in the World Cup in Japan and Korea. There are things that you think will never happen, but then they do. You never want anything bad to happen to a team-mate, but I seized my chance".

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
Iker Casillas has promised to give Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets "a slap" after he appeared to stamp on Real Madrid defender Pepe.
The Spain international clashed with the Portguese during the Blaugrana's 4-3 Clasico win at the Bernabeu last month, but was quick to deny any wrongdoing.
Pepe responded by calling the 25-year-old a "liar" and Casillas has backed his team-mate, slamming his Spain colleague's conduct.
"The image speaks for itself. Pepe has the full backing of the whole side," he said at a promotional event.
"I'm not going to go into more detail. It was a heated moment. Busquets, from my point of view, behaved poorly. When I see Busquets I'll give him a slap."
Casillas has only played for Madrid in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League this season, with coach Carlo Ancelotti preferring Diego Lopez in La Liga, but the 32-year-old is tired of the debate.
"It is a subject that has got tiresome. Those who the boss thinks that should be playing, play. That's that. You have to carry on as you are.
"Diego Lopez deserves support and has started a competition and should finish it. I train and compete. It's good for me and the side.
"Diego Lopez is good enough for the national side: of course. Vicente has already shown he believes this. Now Vicente del Bosque must decide.
"Since Victor [Valdes] got injured he will have been closely following other keepers and will make the best decision."
Casillas also admitted that his side cannot afford to lose to Real Sociedad in San Sebastian this weekend but denied that Cristiano Ronaldo's absence means Ancelotti is prioritising other competitions.
"We cannot slip up. It is very important and we have to take the three points and then wait. Hopefully there'll be good results for us. With anything other than a win, it would make the league very difficult for us.
"I don't think the league is taking a backseat. The decision was made because [Ronaldo] can't play. Over the last five years he has been superb and always with the side. If he has to stop it's because he needs it.
"He must recover well and be there in the next games. Whoever replaces him will do their best."
Acting like a captain finally. Screw the NT Iker, protect your teammates, you're a Madridista first

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas recently discussed how when Vicente Del Bosque left Real Madrid a piece of the club left with him and doesn’t understand why the current Spanish national team coach was forced out in the first place.
In the prologue for the new book titled, “Vicente, an authorised biography”, Casillas spoke about his feelings when Del Bosque left the club in 2003 and what he’s learned from one of the best managers in the world of football.
“[In 2003] we had a great team and everything was going well. With the group we had you could argue that anyone could have managed us, but in four years we won two Champions League titles, La Liga and one Intercontinental…One night, I was one my way to Alicante, when I learned that Del Bosque had left the club. We were aware there was something. The celebration of winning La Liga was the worst I can remember. His departure from Real Madrid hurt, it was like losing a part of the club.”
Casillas went on to add that Del Bosque taught him lessons he’ll never forget, like humility, when he dropped him as a starter in favour of Cesar.
“He helped me, but also made me see the reality of football, the sport and life. He gave me confidence and then, later, a long while on the bench. At first I was annoyed because no player understands why he’s dropped from the starting XI. After several weeks, I finally understood and when I got the opportunity I showed he could confide in me, like the final in Glasgow.”
Casillas was finally reunited with Del Bosque with the Spanish national team.
“He taught me to how live with winning and to respect your friends as much as someone wants to make your believe that they are your worst of enemies. He’s maintained the calm in the difficult moments as well moments of joy after winning the Cup. He’s helped the footballers and the fans.”

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
lmao Iker is like "Xabi not again, you stupid ginger turtle, NOT AGAIN"
Imagine if Iker had started the league games, we probably would not have conceded some of the easy goals we have conceded this season
Hope we go through to the final so that he can finally get his League spot back

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
Iker Casillas says he has learned from a poor spell of form but insists he has been through worse periods in his career than his current slump.
The Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper has come in for criticism after a mistake in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid was followed up with a disastrous World Cup for Spain.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Uefa Super Cup tie against Sevilla in Cardiff, the 33-year-old said he was confident of a successful season and had analysed his recent mistakes.
"I haven't been at my best in the last few games for Real Madrid and Spain, but I have analysed and learned from them," he told reporters.
"I have been through worse moments in my career. You go through good moments and bad moments. Everything is temporary. I have not been at the level I was when maybe people became spoiled.
"You have to grin and bear it and face up to situations like this. I have always done so and I am not going to hide now.
"I understand that when you play for Real Madrid you are always being watched and your name is talked about when things are good and when they are bad. Luckily, in my case it has almost always been when things are good.
"I don't feel targeted. The club has treated me very well, I have no complaints. I want to push myself even harder than last year."
Casillas said Carlo Ancelotti’s side were determined to continue picking up silverware after winning the Champions League and Copa del Rey last season, starting with the battle against Europa League winners Sevilla.
He continued: "I'm excited about getting back to winning. We can't live on the memory of what we did a few months ago. We have to win the Super Cup to gain confidence and then go for the Spanish Super Cup as well.
"This is an important game for Madrid after the prize of winning la Decima. It is a day to be enjoyed and to win. At Real Madrid we are obliged to win and to go for the trophy."
Madrid have signed Keylor Navas from Levante this summer to provide competition to Casillas, while Diego Lopez is on the brink of leaving to join AC Milan.

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
He'll most likely be the starting GK this year, so hopefully he gets back to his best. He made that mistake in the CL final and at the WC Cup he wasn't at his best, but then again nor was the entire Spain team. Anyway last season he did well whenever he played, so hopefully he gets back to top form.

Am I the only one who thinks that Keylor will be the starter this season ? Considering Carlo's last comments.

Re: El Gato - San Iker Casillas
There is a thick line between being a legend and a villain; casillas' line has lost much of its thickness and what is left is so thin that it could cut off any time soon.
I think casillas is a selfish player who puts himself ahead of his team.
Puyol, Villa, Xabi and xavi realized that their legs and prolly their style of play were of no good to the spanish national team anymore and they decided to retire to their personal detriment, but for the greater good of the national team.
As for Casillas, he just won't retire.
He has been selected over and over again out of sentiments and he keeps dissapointing. I think he is being selfish by still being in the national team because he wants to vindicate himself.
I believe Del Bosque would eventually lose his patience and put the best interest of the team ahead of casillas' own.
Del Bosque benched him in the friendly against france and I hope it continues.
I hope benching him is also part of the change Ancelotti intends to implement.
The sentiments have to stop - he is a legend, has saved our ass many times but he is no good for d national team and madrid any more.
I would neva forget his mistake during d CL final and how he made the same mistake again, how he had made that same mistake before the CL and how he kept making the mistake even after.
He should know when enough is enough and bow out gracefully like the other veterans before he disgraces himself.if he spends more than a season as the first choice goal keeper, he would start getting hated.
He would find himself on the bench more often and sooner or later, he wouldn't even be called up to the national team.
He should accept the obvious - what all his coaches and fans see...he has lost it..
Retire! Iker! Retire a legend or retire a villain

Of course he would say that he isn't the mole lmao
In any case I don't think anyone can doubt Iker's commitment to Real Madrid. Having said that him saying that he doesn't need to go to the gym doesn't fill me with confidence lol

Most of the Bernabeu are Socios who pay a lot of money to be members of the club. If they want to spend 90 minutes booing Iker then they are free to do just that.
Cristiano used to get booed by the crowd too, now we hear "Cristiano Balon D'Oro almost every home game". If you play well and work hard the Bernabeu will show you their appreciation. If not then they will let you know lol
