well they've always had good squads on paper, that's never been a problem... ujfalusi - godin - dominguez - filipe is a great defence in theory yet they still had the second worst defence in the top 10... plus they have no depth, if both reyes and turan are unavailable juanfran - salvio isn't exactly a horrifying sight for the opponents...

I think their depth is more than honorable, Salvio did well in Portugal, so he is competent, not sure Diego Costa will go, so we can count him. Their depth is decent, for their ambition, it's good. They also signed a wonderkid from Braga midweek.

I agree, the team is always good on paper. their biggest weakness was always the midfield. from what i read they will play Gabi/Thiago-Suarez/Asuncao-Diego/Koke, if Diego gets there, and now they have Ruben Michael, a bit underwhelming.

PSG, Atletico, Malaga, etc. all have to pay at least a 15% to what the "market value" of an elite player is. Pure and simple. Otherwise, they would never get anyone.

Firstly there wasnt a bidding war or anything of that sort..Mean to say Atletico was the only interested party here..

Secondly moving from Atletico to Porto is a step-up since Falcao would be playing in the best league in the world and Atletico historically can be considered a giant..

And third Falcao expressed his desire to move to Atletico..This could perhaps have been a possibility where the fee could have reduced(just a possibility)..

Credit should be given to Porto that they hold out for such a lumpsome amount and Atletico were almost forced to pay such an exorbitant transfer fee..

Fact is Atletico overpayed...The point i'm trying to make is the transfer fee would have been much lower if Porto had lowered their demands and also to consider the fact that Falcao wanted to move there in any case..

And atletico has decent pulling power in my opinion..

I really don't get this, he is downgrading in moving to Atleti(in my opinion) he was in a top squad in CL in the best team in the league.
