Official: Manuel Neuer signs 5 year deal with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich announced that Manuel Neuer has signed a five-year contract following his arrival from Schalke last week.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper passed his medical on Wednesday, and a statement on the club's official website reads:

"After passing a medical, Neuer has signed a five-year contract which expires on June 30, 2016."

Neuer expressed his delight after having put pen to paper to become the Bavarian's first-choice shot-stopper.

"I cannot wait to start training. I know Munich well and I feel very comfortable here," he told FCB.tv.

He went on to give one of his reasons for joining Bayern, saying: "It's because I am the Germany goalkeeper and Bayern are the best team in Germany."

Great addition for Bayern and good career move for Neuer!

Still think Boateng is next btw...

Quite a good deal for Bayern, 18+ optionals is pretty low for a GK of his quality, especially for a young one. Great deal of business imo.

But didn't he have only a year left on his contract with Schalke? That'd explain the relatively low transfer fee.

i remember an article that was saying the neuer transfer might become the highest transfer fee for a goalkeeper so i m delighted with this price

no one will ever break gigi buffon's record transfer fee

even 25 mil is a absolute steal imo, he could be one of the best keepers, already top 3 in the world at the age of 24 imo, this is insane

IIRC, the Buffon transfer some years ago was for a much higher price. But for this season it very well will be the highest price for a goalkeeper. It's for sure the highest price for a keeper in the last year of his contract, though.
