But ok, the point in one sentence.
You're cheating, possibly even unconsciously.
No rational counter argument given.
Come now Harmonica, you know it as well as anyone that Ronaldo is the real best player of our generation and very likely of all time. You don't need numbers to display who's who when we can see it on the field. Messi's numbers are heighted mainly by Iniesta & Xavi's and Alves influence. We can see Messi's dependancy when he plays for Argentina. In contrast to Ronaldo who has shined no matter who he has played with.

ronaldo shined with portugal?
ronaldo had a better year then messi but lets not get carried away lol
also lets not turn this thread into a typical ronaldo vs messi thread its been a topic that's gotten nowhere in the past 4 years.

This is the type of post I would expect to see in the goal.com comments section, not on GL

People, this thread is about the STATS (please refer to the thread title for the appropriate content), so please keep with the stats. Discussion about tap-ins and whatever can go elsewhere, please!!!

It is actually very rational, and the reasoning behind it you can find in the 'wall of text' above

Or is this thread only for numbers without discussing their context?

Well, if you keep discussing the stats and not derailing the thread then fine, but here's a lot of derailing going on.

Yup. I'm really impressed by Timo Horn, too. Both Loris Karius and Timo Horn turned only 21 years of age this summer, and they got their number one spots already last year.

Re: Stats thread
Hm. Problem is that Mitch Langerak, while he's definitely a cutie, isn't up to par where modern goal-keeping is concerned. Mitch is unfortunately not so good with the ball at his feet, even though he is a pretty capable shot-stopper. In the long run, Dortmund need a top modern goalkeeper who is able to perform the libero function, too.
But this doesn't belong into the stats discussion. We might continue this in either the Bundesliga or Dortmund threads.

Re: Stats thread
Doesn't surprise me. Thiago was averaging about 2 dribbles per game at Barca. At Bayern it suddenly climbed up to 5.7 per game (Messi-esque numbers). Similar with Diego Ribas. 4.9 dribbles per game at Wolfsburg. At Atletico suddenly down to 1.5. Sanchez same. 1.3 dribbles at Barca in his best ever season. 3.8 in Mule League all of a sudden. Suarez went down from 2.8 in Mule League down to 1.8 in La Liga. At the same time Messi has averaged 40 dribbles against last 4 English opposition or something like that if I'm not mistaken. GOAT Liga ain't a child's playground like Bundeslol and Mule League. GOAT Liga.

Re: Stats thread
To be fair Suarez's dribbles will also go down because Messi is the focal point of the team and not Suarez anymore.
Look at Bale goes from 1.5 to 2.1 with RM, and that's after losing the focal point status. Vela can't even dribble out of a paper bag in EPL but manages between 1.7 and 2 in Lol Liga. Meanwhile Robben dribbles circles around Barcelona.
See what I did there? A lot of it has to do with team composition and tactical style as well. Though La Liga is still a great league.

Re: Stats thread
do the % of dribbles completed by suarez.. probably much lower than his liverpool days.
la liga offers less space than epl which shows why bale doesn't "dribble" or well kick and run as much as he used to.
