Watching England Play... - Page 5 Empty Re: Watching England Play...

The fact that people are even thinking that Wilshere is close to Gerrard just goes to show how ridiculously over hyped he is. Last season he played in an Arsenal team that contained Cesc, Nasri, Arshavin, RVP e.t.c. All of whom have terrific off the ball movement, they find it incredibly easy to roam into space and get free for a pass. This is why Wilshere has such high pass completion, alot of his passes are 5-10 yards to players who are in alot of space due to their great movement, it's alot like Busquets at Barca, he has amazing passing stats, but that's only because he plays an awful lot of short passes, often 1 2s with players like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and often goes back to the centre backs. Doesn't mean he's a particularly great passer of the ball.

Also the role Wilshere plays has alot to do with his stats, he plays in a position similar to Alonso, he sits deep, but not to defend just to spread play. He doesn't have to worry about defending because Song takes care of it, this leaves him to roam into the space in front of Song, just behind Cesc/Nasri, where he will have alot of room due to the other team worrying about marking Cesc/Nasri.

Meanwhile at Liverpool Gerrard is often expected to win games on his own. He's often man marked, the movement off the ball from his team mates isn't the best so he has to try and make space for himself, he tries alot of through balls because he is Liverpool's main creative player and generally takes more risks than Wilshere, hence Wilshere's better passing stats.

Gerrard has much more of an impact on the field, creating more chances and getting more assists and goals than Wilshere. People say they would rather have Wishere but this is mostly due to his age.

I cant understand English supporters getting upset/angry or excited about the National Team, We are just so over-hyped by our media/press its not funny.

Lets wait for the next manager to arrive, and lets see how much of the blame he will get when they continue to play crappy. Perhaps the players are not good enough? scratch

How about seeing how many mistakes Capello has made as England coach instead clinging on to the old chestnut " look at how much he has won"

1. That is'nt the same Capello
2. International football is'nt the same as club football

Fact is England haven't had a coach since Venables who was tactically flexible and understood the players strengths and weaknesses and until this happens nothing will change....

Rooney, Wilshere, Young, A.Cole, Smalling, Jones, Hart, Sturridge etc etc are not good enough?

Ok Laughing

That's without mentioning Walcott, Carroll, Johnson, Terry, Ferdinand, Richards etc etc with over talents coming through which are not ready yet....

The players not good enough argument simply does'nt wash, Capello has made more mistakes than Titus Bramble but time and again he gets defended because of his record....

How about the people that keep saying these things who clearly havent watched England on a regular basis under Capello zip it as you clearly have no clue.....

Deal?

Oh and no one bring up the golden generation under Eriksson we played a 4-4-2 ffs with Gerrard and Lampard as 2 CM's that's like playing an 4-4-2 with Ozil and Kaka as CM's ffs again if that is'nt the managers fought then i dont know what is

eiether way it shouldnt matter, gerrard has had his chance and has never been able to replicate his liverpool form for england, he and lamps have been major dissapointments there is no other way of lookin at them,

there time is done, wilshere not only deserves to be starting over gerrard but needs to be.

now is the time he is young, we all now he has the quality, just put him in there and give him the experience he needs, dont waste it on gerrard who wasted his chances with the national team and is in a decline now couldnt do it before def wont do it now for england, should be nothin more than a bench player for england now.

I dont give a shit if Gerrard plays for England or not.Infact i would be delighted if he retires from International football like Scholes and Carra and concentrates only on Liverpool.I was just saying gerrard is far superior player to Wilshere still.

As for Gerrard wasting his chances ofcourse its his fault a muppet like Cappello plays him as a Left winger to accomodate the likes of Heskey and Defeo.Isnt it?I would love to see how great Wilshere plays when he is played as a left winger
