Silva: Del Bosque doesnt want me
MADRID (AP) -- David Silva is not happy about being a forgotten man in Spain's national side, complaining that coach Vicente del Bosque has cast him aside since last year's World Cup.
The Manchester City striker believes the Spain coach has left him out in the cold since Spain's 1-0 defeat to Switzerland in South Africa, the world champions only defeat of the tournament. Silva also feels the decision to sign for City and not one of Spanish giants Barcelona or Real Madrid has also hurt his starting chances.
"The coach isn't counting on me, that's what I feel and I don't think it depends on how I play for me to be a starter. I'm the only victim of that defeat to Switzerland in South Africa still, more or less,'' Silva was quoted as saying in Tuesday's Marca newspaper. "I feel like I've played at a high level many times and it wasn't enough to get into the starting lineup.
"Analyzing my situation, I'm not happy but I don't foresee my prospects changing.''
The 25-year-old Silva has scored 11 goals in 49 appearances for Spain and was a member of the Euro 2008 and World Cup winning teams.
After the Switzerland defeat, Silva featured only as a late substitute in the semifinal win over Germany and was an unused substitute in Spain's five other matches, including the 1-0 final win over the Netherlands.
Despite being a regular in the squad, Villa has started two of Spain's six Euro 2012 qualifiers and played in two more as a substitute.
Silva, who characterizes himself as "a second act,'' also believes heading to England in a ?30 million ($37 million) move from Valencia last summer did not help his situation despite excelling in a star-studded cast of players.
"A lot of times I think about it that yes, not ending up (at Barcelona or Madrid) hurt my chances,'' said Silva, who added that Barcelona tried to sign him after the Euro 2008 triumph but Valencia was not interested in selling him.

Re: Silva: Del Bosque doesnt want me
Silva is the best midfielder in premier league and for me, Spain always play better with him in the side

He never plays that amazing for Spain though when he does start, thats the problem.
The current setup works and more importantly plays better. He needs to build a bridge.....

When he sees Mata or Cazorla start and him not playing he will be disappointed.

Re: Silva: Del Bosque doesnt want me
He was totally dropped out of NT after his atrocious performance vs Switzerland in WC if I remember correctly, and haven't got a look in meaningful games since then (not Lichtenstein etc). Remember he started vs Venezuela before COPA and absolutely destroyed them (if i recall correctly), it was Venezuela only I know, but then we saw how much of a good team they were in Copa America.
the Xabi-Sergio experiment won the world cup.
Xavi
But only with 7 goals scored, and it totally doesn't utilize Spain's massive wealth of attacking talent. I am thinking of a way to fit both Silva and Cesc in the starting line up..Cesc for his more direct approach and goals from midfield, and Silva as he is a better CAM than Xavi who operates better in deeper position (CM).
Isn't it just a lovely dilemma to have ...eh

Re: Silva: Del Bosque doesnt want me
He isn't better than Iniesta or Cesc so he has no chance of being a 100% starter.
Maybe he could play wide right but Mata, Cazorla & Navas are much better wide players than him too.

It was only the Italy match he was completely left out of in recent times though.

navas is a myth... spanish walcott with slightly better crossing
so long as barcelona keep being as good as they are the likes of silva will never start for the national team... del bosque is taking advantage of guardiola's work, only replacing messi with negredo (or torres ), which is why spain in addition to being painfully boring quite often can't win convincingly... still it seems to be working, just...

Had we done the sensible thing and bought him instead of Di Maria he would probably be getting a lot more playing time right now.

Re: Silva: Del Bosque doesnt want me
Playing amongst the donkeys of England has turned Silva into a diva it seems
I understand that a player always wants to start but you don't call out your manager in the press. That's not going to make things better.
