UFC PPV's and ratings are at all time low levels lol, in the Conor era. His cards may break record, but he hasn't made the UFC bigger than ever before. The sport was arguably more popular overall before he even fought in the UFC than it is now.

The marketing has gotten better, though. No doubt.

Al Iaquinta is a far more versatile fighter than Conor lol. (Didn't say better) Definitely not a 50/50 fight. 80-20 for me.

Myesyats wrote:I’m not a fanboy, I just like Conor and appreciate what he’s done for the sport. How can you hate him? He single handedly made UFC much bigger and earned them so much money you can’t even imagine.

I think Khabib is overrated, I’ve seen him maul people but lots of his fights end in decisions. I’m not denying that he’s a great fighter.... I’m just saying his undefeated streak is deceiving.

To win the title he fought a fighter ranked 11 or 12 I believe. He hasn’t fought a versatile guy like Conor who can fight in many stances and end any fight with 1-2 punches.

If this was a 170 fight I’d be skeptical but at 155 I think Conor takes it. It’s a 50-50 though I admit it could go either way, obviously

Also, people don’t realize how fast Conor is until they get in the cage with him. The fight has a high chance of ending before it even goes to the ground.

Conor's hands are fast, but Khabib has a great chin.

Over half of Conor's fights have gone past the first round in the UFC. Khabib has never been really rocked or wobbled properly in his career. Conor has 1 pure KO in the UFC. So nah, there isn't a high chance it ends before it hits the ground in the slightest. There is a chance, of course, because Conor's a top striker. But it's far more likely Khabib gets him down and keeps him there. He's manhandled fighters with far better TDD and grappling in his career.

I remember reading a thread online a few days ago that showed Denis Siver taking Conor down a couple of times. Denis Siver ffs. I mean sure, his TDD could have improved but not to the point it's gonna mean anything to Khabib. He has to win via TKO/KO and early.

Got a feeling Conor may look to get himself DQ'd in the fight tbh.

What the fvck are you talking about? The UFC was sold for $4 billion & it's the most expensive transaction for an organization in sports history & that's all because of one person, Conor.

PPV for 205 McGregor-Alvarez was 1.3 million.

2017 was awful in terms of PPV's because Conor hasn't fought at all. Everyone watched his boxing match, instead, even those who have never watched a boxing match before in their entire life.

No one generates excitement like Conor. Kebab just sits around and does nothing.

If Kebab was fighting someone else on the 6th of October, nobody would give a fvck. The gate would be 50% lower let alone the PPV's.

Three McGregor fights are top 5 gate all-time of the sport (Aldo, Alvarez and Diaz 1).

You can hate him, but he is special. He even made me want to taste his new whisky Laughing Dude is one of a kind.

Lol all i said was straight facts. It's him who is bringing those numbers and you have to respect that.

As Dana said he's the entire package; skill wise, entertainment wise, promotion wise. This is non debatable.

if Conor stops fighting then you may well not see me in this thread because only he generates enough excitement for me to post about it. I like watching guys like Till, Ferguson, Diaz, Poirer, Lee, Thompson, Woodley but I can't be bothered discussing it.

Straight facts my ass.

You called Conor a versatile fighter.

He's a puncher. Either he punches someone until the fight ends, or he gets submitted. Not much versatility there.

He can fight in many stances and figure out the route to victory in tough situations. That's versatile in my book.

Just because he's not primarly a wrestler doesnt mean he's not a great fighter lol

Anytime the fight goes to the ground I get bored and wait until it gets back to stand up again. Perhaps that's why I dislike Khabib as a figher.

Nothing matters though because there's no going back and we'll see how the fight plays out soon. Unless that half-fighter pulls out again.

Always great to listen to Dan and see how he can appreciate a great fighter. No other dude in the game who can manage space so intelligently and precisely as Conor. This is art.

don't sleep on the Bellator event tonight @Freeza, even if you have to watch it tomorrow

in terms of actual in cage performance, it's likely my most anticipated fight of the year tonight

Rory vs Mousasi

Watching the new season of TUF. The fighters aren't that good really.

Last match was great in episode 4. Was an insane comeback.

Also Kelvin Gastelum is incredibly likeable all around. Really like the guy.

same time as most UFC events, 2 hrs from now

well, this card has all known fighters, it looks pretty decent, though Wanderlei vs Rampage is just playing on nostalgia..both are dinosaurs albeit legends

you want to be watching for the main event though, it's arguably to crown the best Welterweight on the planet IMO

Rory and Mousasi both left the UFC when Bellator offered them more, Rory completely outclassed Woodley before and Mousasi was on a 5 fight win streak at MW over a bunch of top 10 guys

usually I wouldn't give a shit about non UFC stuff but this card looks lit

One of the most hyped prospects in MMA. Was reading about him before he debut, had a development contract, deals with Nike etc...got smashed in like 30 seconds on his debut rofl

Watched him fight a few bums since and he looks good though

proud of Freeza Proud I got tired and didn't even watch it until just now, was expecting Moose to win but not for it to be that easy. i do think Rory's declined the last few years, especially since his war with Lawler (one of the best fights of all time, took years off their lives) that nose is gonna haunt him the rest of his career. But yeah, Moose has beaten actual HW's before so I wasn't entirely surprised to see him get the easy W once he had mount.
