Arrggl... Looks like the people outside of Germany did it and convinced the DFB to do a rebranding and actually call our good ol' Fußballnationalmannschaft "Die Mannschaft" only from now on

Please excuse me while I do a couple of head-desks now...

Liked Hermann, Hector, and Rudy looked promising despite being horribly out of position for the equalizer. The US lead was just due to nobody giving a shit, that's Germany in friendlies, it's not like it surprised any of us.

But can we still sack Löw? That would be neat.

Löw hates Tony Jantschke, and he is better than all defenders that were on the pitch today. Sad

Whilst I know it's meaningless, the way players are categorised in these call ups really bugs me. Whilst I understand the argument for listing Mueller, Reus and Shirley as midfielders - though I don't know what Poldi is doing there Laughing - why is Goetze then a forward?

At least they're not simultaneously listed with someone like De Sciglio, as under Conte.

Clubber (Re: Good riddance)

BTW, the categories are actually from SSNHD. Kicker kept midfield+forwards together in one block.

Unless this is meant to be Poldi's farewell game I have no clue how Poldi continues to be in there.

Ah, that makes far more sense then.

It would be fitting for Poldi to finish up against Poland in a way. I doubt that is what this is though, more likely Loew sticking with those who won him the World Cup. Fortunately for you guys you have a relatively young squad, so you won't suffer as we did under Lippi.

This is not a charity game for the Herrmann's to get called up, the game against Poland is the most important game Germany will have in these qualifications and Podolski is far more likely to be an effective sub.

Based on what Löw had to say in his press conference, I think the team will be:

Neuer; Rudy, Boateng, Hummels, Hector; Kroos, Schweinsteiger; Müller, Özil, Schürrle; Götze;

That or Müller upfront and Götze in his place.

Official line-up:

#GER: Neuer, Hector, Boateng, Hummels, Can, Schweinsteiger (C), Kroos, Müller, Özil, Bellarabi, Götze #ssnhd #GERPOL

Bellarabi instead of Schürrle is a certainly interesting, probably unpopular decision.

Dunno if not fielding André Schürrle is so unpopular. Karim Bellarabi played more and better than him recently.

He played at RB, and he started... Meh, approaching shitty for the first 10 or so minutes, lots of misplaced passes and such, but he rapidly got better and kept on improving throughout the match. Won a couple of important challenges and had mostly stopped misplacing passes by the 2nd half. All in all he did probably ensure he'll get called up again.

He even got pretty close to grabbing an assist. For a kid of that age in a defensive role it was a pretty impressive performance, actually.

Well TBH he did well at RB, and even Löw admitted he sees Can as more at home at DM, and says he would usually consider him an optimal RB only if they were playing a 3-man defense, so apparently he too sees him more centrally.

Either way, whether Can is a natural RB or not, he did well there, and against a Poland team that really was playing quite good. That was one of the classier international matches I've seen in a while.
