He's doing extremely well if we consider how rarely we play like we used to.

I just figured out most people disliked him because:

1. They simply want Arsenal to fail and prove that Van Persie was carrying the the team, which obviously wasn't the case.

2. Not envy, but since its trendy to spew hate on Arsenal, their philosophy and rare signings, they wanted Olivier to fail out of pure spite for the club.

3. The fact he is the new Luca Toni in looks and the women are crazy about him.

Probably 3. Or all of the above.

No but in all seriousness the only benefit of RvP leaving Arsenal is that Wenger has created a side far more balanced and dynamic rather than having the a focal point to bail them out when in need. Similar to Ibra when absent for Milan (injury suspension).

It pays off on the long run for the players and results.

It happened when Henry left and the team had to pick up the slack and work together for goals rather than passing it to Henry to score from anywhere in the opposition half

Really upped his game in recent weeks.

Never thought he would adapt so quickly, and the best thing is that we're actually crossing and getting bodies in the box.
Don't know if it's because of Wenger's instructions or players believing in Giroud's knockdowns but it really adds another dimension to our game.

Yet another Wenger buy that proves me wrong.

We are still one small forward who can play as a winger and a DM like Capoue short from being a fully balanced team that will improve as time progresses. Hopefully Arsene sees this and signs these 2 players.

From the looks of things we have players who can score goals from all position on the pitch. But in the process our passing game have gone down the drain. You dont see those slick passes from us anymore.

His finishes in the last few games have been sublime and with an air of élégance gracieuse, so where's the hubbub?

Has 13 goals and 9 assists to his name, thus far, and seems to have settled down nicely. Quite under-rated, really, in a world of plinthed scrubs like Dzeko, Balotelli and Welbeck

Lex, I think people will start rating him when he starts performing in big games. so far he's been a disappointment against decent sides, though been good against scrubs :coffee:

Majority of these have come when the game is already won or against 2nd division teams in the cups.....

Not hating or anything but the word stat padding applies to Giroud has his performances have been not as good as his stats suggest.

Besides 8 goals in 22 games in the league isn't exactly the great.

Scored the equalizer against West Ham in the 3-1 win away. Scored against Tottenham, too. And Newcastle :coffee: In other words, quite a few Premier League teams. Has one or two in the Champion's League as well, so this "only scores against scrubs" argument is quite weak

Also, since when does the timing of a goal take away from a player's quality? scratch

Giroud is underrated by many on this forum. He's finally found his touch. I expect him finish among the top of the scoring charts in PL next season.

Well against us it takes away quite a lot.....

He came on and scored in last 10 minutes when it was quite obvious our players were struggling to walk after playing 2 times in 3 days were you sat at home with you're feet up all week.

As i said a lot of goals have come when the game is over or against 2nd division teams not saying he's incapable but the fact he has 8 goals in 22 games says he is not consistent against anyone above average yet.

Whatever way you slice it, it's a far cry from the first two or three weeks when he was being written off and destroyed by everyone (here and in the media) because he hadn't scored

I'll take scoring against scrubs and 2nd division teams this season over not scoring at all

And Mole, Schalke, Montpellier, Tottenham and Newcastle aren't exactly sunday league scrubs

Sure he has a few goals against lower teams, but what's he supposed to do? Not score?

Giroud's PL record: Played 22 and scored in 5 of of those 22 games....

5 ! with the 4 teams being West Ham, Tottenham, Fulham and Newcastle.....

Just pointed out that his stats are nowhere near as impressive as they seem.

So he's scored against 4 different teams and we are in January which have combined for 8 goals.

Nothing to brag about really.

Oh and yes we have been playing like sunday league scrubs this season lol.

Never said his stats were great, just that the goals he's scored have been pretty impressive and crucial

Throw in the fact that he also has 9 assists as well, and I think he's not being given enough credit.
