Top Penalty Killers

I'll update the table after today's matches! BTW, Bernd Leno saved 5 of 6 penalties in this season.

Unfortunately, transfermarkt scrapped their nice penalty statistics for goalies, so now I have to use other sources (for now I used ESPN.com for Keylor Navas, but I will double-check this eventually still) or go through the matches myself, which is a little more tedious. That's why there is only the data for the seasons 11/12 to 13/14 for Guillermo Ochoa and Keylor Navas as the data I got from Ajaccio's games and UD Levante's matches looked trustworthy, but I wasn't so sure about the match data of the other sides they played for.

Finally, transfermarkt.de lists the penalty stats of the goalies again. They changed the format quite a bit from their former version, so I decided to change my list, too. The new overview contains all penalties from open play, but none from penalty shoot-outs, as these are not listed anymore.

Moreover, now you only find the data from the top leagues of the countries plus senior international caps and no more lower divisions or youth teams, so that the numbers can be compared better.

So, Tim Krul has saved just 2 out of 34 penalties? Yet it was a masterstroke by Van Gaal when he put Krul in goal for the penalty shoot-out against Costa Rica in Brazil '14?

Exactly that amused me to no avail, too. I bet LVG was a bit annoyed that he didn't take Kenneth Vermeer along for penalties XD
