The reason Vidic is at the bottom is because he has been injured for over a year and we dont know what level he will come back to..... he has to prove himself all over again.

Otherwise he would be 2nd.

On form, Vidic is one of the greatest defenders of all time.

The reason i respect and admire Vidic so much is because he carried the likes of O'Shea, Brown, Evans(when he was dogshit), Silva Twins, Evra and to some extent Ferdinand all on his own and made all of them look unbeatable for over 3 years

Silva is the best currently but I would rate Vidic higher had he not been injured all season.

All different players, someone like Hummels is a great distributor and class on the ball whereas Vidic is just a wall.

kompany should be in place of vidic in this list imo

I don't rate Vidic as high as others.He is the best in the air,but is just above average when it comes to other departments. Doesn't have great positioning, Reading of the game. Before Ferdinand had is loss in form along with the injuries, it was him that held the line together.

On Vidic's day and I know in 20110-11, he was probably one of the best defenders and can easily be better than the others... Chellini and Silva are so close that it's almost hard to compare

Not putting Vidic in this because he's been injured all season.

Would take prime Vidic instantly ahead of all others despite his lack of distribution..he was at least always able to recognize this and pass to Rio.

Vidic shouldn't be included after being injured for so long. Any comparison made would be unfair. Perhaps Kompany should've been included instead.

I like Hummels, but I do think he's overhyped because he's part of the Dortmund bandwagon. I've seen quite a lot of him and he's generally solid and unspectacular. There's a lot to like, but he's not really an elite defender yet. Silva and Chiellini would've never got bamboozled by Cassano like Hummels did in the Semi Final for Italy's first goal. He's lacking a bit of composure and I think he makes a few too many stray passes.

Needless to say that I think Silva is still the superior defender to Chiellini, just as I've said in the previous twenty CB comparison threads. Chiellini is still a fantastic CB though.
