I'm with Shaven on this. I'm still hoping they use Morata from castilla when they need a 3rd striker. I don't like Ade, Morata has the same height and more skill. IfMou insists on having a new vetern as a 3rd striker, then I'd take Tevez any day over Ade.


The problem with having Benz, Higgy and a 3rd stiker that you describe is going to happen no matter who they bring in new as a 3rd striker. I think other than Ronaldo, you're going to see a lot of rotation up front. Callejon is a keeper and won't just be on bench like Leon. .... and you also probably have Kaka in this mix as well.... Just wait until Neymar gets here??? - other than Kaka being gone, it's a very crowded front 3.

depends what kind of CF you go after. If you sign a player in his 30's that understands that he is in the last stretch of his career, and want to give a hand, knowing he wont play as much as higuain or benzema, then it's ok.

if you sign a relatively young/in his prime forward to compete with higuain, benzema and the rest, then you put yourself in a difficult spot.

callejon will get to play, there were times last season we could have used some rotation, but mourinho had no intention on playing Leon.

it might have been the case before, but i consider what mourinho said about benzema last night as a key point, mourinho gave him a vote of confidence. I think Benzema behaved himself remarkably through the summer, at least in terms of showing his commitment to the team, publicly and behind the scenes, and gave to mourinho the signs he was looking for.

So it wont be the kind of CF that will bring unneeded competition to Benzema or higuain i think, just one to compliment them.

You're going to have a Benzema/Higuain rotation... and they will sometimes play together. Benzema will get a chance to get more minutes early in the season.

Nothing wrong with this scenario. Higuain will get a chance to get himself right so he can truly compete come 2012 hopefully.

agreed tevez would add uncalled for competition... I prefer a smaller name be bought or of course Morata be used but that seems to be a unrealistic dream...

Neymar would really be the perfect addition right now. We need a creative player to help high given our problems in the midfield. Put Neymar on the right and allow him to roam on top to push the ball forward.

I'm not sure i agree. We arent lacking creativity in attack, we are lacking control in the midfield, something not even kaka coming from the bench can provide.

The closer our wing players can play to the midfield and help create going forward, the less pressure the midfield will have. Di Maria is a bit too dribble happy and CR7 is a reluctant passer in big games. I'm HOPING that Neymar can be more unselfish.

Ozil's game needs development here and could use help from the wingers.

It will be all 6, lots of rotation. I agree tho that we don't need a 3rd striker. Just use Morata from castilla when one is needed.

Shaven, I brought up Tevez this morning only because my neigbour hear a rumour (in Greece) about it. Since none of us have seen anything about this, I think it was just an old story floating around. I also read somewhere this morning that Inter plan to go for him, if Man U takes Sneijder.

Next year Sportczy. He needs to mature some. He replaces Di maria in starting and Kaka on team.

We got 2 pretty good ones (Varane and Coentrao) for this year plus we have Nacho available from Castilla.

I'd say our defense is pretty solid right now. Only issues to me are keep improving Marcelo's defense (he made a bad attempt to tackle in mid field yesterday) and controlling his runs to sidelines to give us width, give LB to Coentrao more often, give Varane more play, begin reducing Ricky's time and keep Albiol on bench.

Canales is gone for at least 2 years

if one is unavailable ramos can take the spot.

Ramos is still likely the 3rd CB in front of Varane and Albiol. Most seem to still think we will see Coentrao or Marcelo at RB. I'm not so sure. re Nacho there are at least 2 in front of him at both RB or LB. He is on call from Castilla and will be practicing with first team so he will be there if anyone of 4 FB's get injured.

It seems like Coentrao was brought in to play midfield... which is just extremely strange to me given his pricetag and lack of experience there. Or is there some reservations about Marcelo? He hasn't been all that great in preseason either.

A bit flabbergasted by the Ceontrao signing.

With Varane showing himself admirably, i see no reason to move Ramos unless we have to. We don't have anyone better at RB at the moment.
