Sao Paulo's private security allegedly threatens Tigre players in Sudamericana Cup final
Argentine soccer club Tigre on Thursday demanded sanctions against Sao Paulo after losing 2-0 to the Brazilians in the South American Cup final that was marred by serious incidents.
Tigre refused to emerge for the second half in the second leg tie against Sao Paulo late Wednesday with the game abandoned and the title awarded to the Brazilian team.
Tigre defender Lucas Orban said police barged into their dressing room and threatened one of the club's players with a gun.
"Sao Paulo's security agents came in, they hit us with batons, took out a revolver and pointed it at the goalkeeper Damian Albil. Then the police came in and began to hit us again," he reported.
But the Tigre players' claims were denied by a Brazilian military policeman.
"No one was armed," commander Gonzaga told Brazilian media.
Tigre blasted Chilean referee Enrique Osses and the South American football Confederation (CONMEBOL) over the reported fracas.
Sergio Massa, mayor of the city of Tigre, said that what happened in Sao Paulo "merits a sanction" against the Brazilian side.
He said the Chilean referee "did not have the stature to handle this game".
Tigre president Rodrigo Molinos meanwhile said his side would file a complaint with CONMEBOL because security conditions were not adequate to play the second half after the locker room incidents.
And the Argentine Football Association AFA said it was assessing the situation.
"We were not there. We are collecting information and surely in the next few hours, AFA will make its position known," spokesman Ernesto Cherquis Bialo said.
The astonishing Argentine claims came just two weeks after the draw was held for the 2013 Confederations Cup and in the country that is hosting the 2014 World Cup.
Tigre midfielder Martin Galmarini reported that "everyone was armed" in reference to the locker room interventions.
Commenting on the incidents on his Twitter page Thursday, former Brazil star Ronaldo slammed the behaviour of the Tigre side, saying they should be banned from continental competitions for 10 years.
"Now to serve as an example, there should be very severe punishment of Tigre. A 10-year-ban from South American competitions," said Ronaldo, a member of Brazil's organiSing committee of the 2014 World Cup.
Ronaldo, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, also criticised the Sao Paulo managers and substitute players as well as the reporters who invaded the pitch when Tigre refused to return for the second half.
The match had already been marred by scuffles between the two sides in the first half triggered by a foul on Sao Paulo's Lucas Moura.

Don't see why Tigre would make this up. Pointing fire-arms at players

Why would they make this up?idk, but they did.Sao Paulo's security are not allowed to be in poseession of firearms at the morumbi according to sao paulo's president.Another proof that they were lying is that when they went to the police department they didn't mention the gun incident once.Conmembol might punish Tigre

Also I would like to add that that was one of the most disgusting matches I've seen,Tigre players were just playing dirty during the entire game, one guy even broke Lucas's nose. And right after that he threw a ball at his head.I'm glad Lucas scored on those *bleep*

The article is saying the policemen carried weapons even though its against the rules and law in stadium and your only response is "it's a lie because the rule says -------- so it must be true" Also why would they (Tigre) say something to the people who abused them?Ganso wrote:Why would they make this up?idk, but they did.Sao Paulo's security are not allowed to be in poseession of firearms at the morumbi according to sao paulo's president.Another proof that they were lying is that when they went to the police department they didn't mention the gun incident once.Conmembol might punish Tigre

The policeman weren't armed,if they were then Tigre better find a way to prove it.Their coach said they had it in camera but it has been 2 days and nothing. They went to the PD because they wanted to, and said virtually nothing about the gun.Complete bs until they show actual proof. And still,do you guys seriously believe that the police were going to pull a gun on a player at a sulamericana final no one is dumb enough to do that

If it did happen, then it definitely damages the image of Brazil 2014.

Argentina butthurt and bias.
Do you even know wtf happened??
Tigres were sour, stormed into their lockerrooms.. being the Argentines that they are.. the hooligan switch flipped on and tried to invade the Sao Paulo locker room looking to fight, Sao Paulo ran to the other side of their locker room, then the stadium authority showed up and Tigres are all of a sudden acting like victims..
Spare me.. Tigres intentions from the start of the game were to bully and hurt as many players on the field as possible. A good 5 redcards should have been handed out to Tigres players alone.
Sao Paulo are crowned Champs.. CONMEBOL has already said they will severely punish Tigres and on top of that the AFA themselves said they will not pursue an injunction or investigation into what happened.
Thanks for playing now plz gtfo

Frankly I don't know what happened, and neither do you, it's hard to know when both sides claim completely opposite stories. The truth lies probably somewhere in the middle. But I find it extremely hard to believe that they would try to pick a fight at half-time in the locker rooms.
Also AFA said nothing of the sort

Exactly, any unbiased latin knows that its extremely probable that Tigre players attacked in an aggressive way that was uncalled for and that a Brazilian officer pulled out a gun in private, either way i doubt we'll ever know what really happened, this is Latin America.
Good one though on saying that since its against the law an officer couldn't have pulled out a gun .

Sao Paulo already recognized as champs.
Only Argentines can act like hooligans and try to get away with it. This should be fun.

So Sao Paulo being champs is official? Cuz i head CONMEBOL may still have Tigre and Sao Paulo play the 2nd half....
A Brazilian journalist said Tigre treated Sao Paulo like shit in Argentina, so he implied it could have been payback....
Anyway good luck to Brazil in the WC lol

Rebanho best to ignore catrollcho's rampant racism
And let's not act like Sao Paulo are complete saints here, they didn't provide any suitable training pitch to Tigre so they were forced to train in the hotel...

Lol.. okay So Tigres were already getting embarrassed in the first half.. I think it would be a greater punishment for them if they played the second half than to got supposably "roughed" up by the police. They were about to get routed by Sao Paulo.
And yea good luck cuz, we're going to have teams act barbaric on and off the field.. yea ok, love the logic here.

Conmebol competitions always presenting us with bizarre episodes.
Let's just wait for the investigations to end before making judgements and stuff.
