Shouldn't they rather concentrate on strenghtening their defence+middlefield ?

Re: Lewandowski shortly before signing Manchester United contract
I think certain Dortmund players should better look at what happened to Nuri Sahin. But then, it looks like especially the non-German players in Dortmund are more interested in huge wage bills and thus prefer to leave for a foreign country bench than continue to help building the Dortmund project.

Re: Lewandowski shortly before signing Manchester United contract
you can do that, make it 50% - Bundesliga is a shitty league, even more shittier then the Eredivisie. Why would a topclass player play in a mickeymouse competition?

Re: Lewandowski shortly before signing Manchester United contract
United got enough strikers. They need to sign a midfielder and a defender if they want to win the Champions League. I can't see them even going past Madrid with that shaky defence.

Rooney might as well kiss the CF role goodbye. He's now been morphed into a midfielder

Eh, his wages are 5 million a year? That's a bit too much for him imo.

Since when is beating Ajax an achievement? same with Man city in the CL, they couldnt even beat Ajax. They didnt win a single game. Plus, Bayern beat Real on penalties, despite being the better team. Hardly a destroying..ffs. I think Bundesliga is the 3rd best league, and on a steady rise with great youth. But dont just talk so much bullshit like that.
Also to the other poster, lot of great players play in bundesliga, the fact that so many top teams want to buy those players just proves that point.
On topic, I think SAF is a brilliant manager but I dont think he is the smartest. You dont need to buy Lewandowski when you have RVP, Rooney, Chicha, and Welbeck. Now even if you want to play Rooney as a AMC, I still think Kagawa should be in that role. If anything I think this is better for Dortmund, Lewandowski is just not the most efficient striker, maybe they can replace him with a more efficient striker.

Re: Lewandowski shortly before signing Manchester United contract
Dortmund topped the Group of Death, how is that not an achievement? They even did it without losing a single game.
Some people were expecting them to finish bottom of the group, but they finished on top of it without losing a game. They exceeded expectations, THAT is what makes it an achievement.

If the Dortmund project has to continue growing they really need to offer some sort of incentives as well to convince their best players to stay otherwise they'll be branded as just another selling club like the Porto's and the Udinese's of the world. Also you cant blame Robert for fancying a move to United ,bench or not over a contract extension with BVB.Besides Dortmund havent even been firm in their stance in regards to selling their best players. They keep doing it every year.

Re: Lewandowski shortly before signing Manchester United contract
well, i'm pretty sure they will find someone equally as good or better as a replacement. it's not like their options are limited either. they'll get money through his sale and this year's CL run. on top of that, the service provided by BVB's midfield should seem appealing to many potential strikers.

Re: Lewandowski shortly before signing Manchester United contract
I'm pretty sure if they wanted to keep Lewandowski, they would've made him a proper offer. This will be good for Dortmund. Lewandowski isn't a bad player, he's an excellent player, actually. He just happens to be a horrible striker, let him go.
He'll sit on some bench, on loan to Wigan or something, like Sahin and Kagawa. Let him have his huge wage demands.
Dortmund will do what they did when Kagawa left: use the money to buy even better players, and come back even stronger.
And on a side note, if a player is so stupid, that he can't see the potential for his career in staying at the current Dortmund side, he can't be helped anyway.
