I've never anywhere said Luiz is WC, in fact, I think he's only decent at his best. He has the potential to be top class but he isn't and that is the simple truth.

That still doesn't change the fact that Varane is incredibly overrated by GL. I mean this is the same GL that rated Kompany as a top 3 CB

It wasn't even a poor game lol. The goals weren't mistakes.... two very good players execute their technique. As a CB you try to be in the right position and cover the most area possible; but you can never cover 100%, especially in the box and in the middle. On one, it's a one time perfect touch by Sneijder off the pass very close to Varane that nutmegged him and the other was a great backheel goal when Varane was very tight on Drogba. Both were extremely difficult technique to execute. I mean, even Silva has allowed plenty of goals this year because it's impossible to be perfectly positioned and be PERFECTLY LUCKY.... especially the lucky part.

You can really tell who has actually played footy here lol.

Kompany last year was top 3, that doesnt mean that he has performed as well this year. Just as right now, Varane is playing like a top 10 CB, and putting out amazing perfs against the very very best teams in europe. he doesnt need to play 50 games against la liga fodders to prove how good he is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging Varane on this match. Hardly any defender in this era can stop Drogba when he wants to be physically assertive so that's not a knock on him. I'm just speaking generally.

100% correct.

he didn't even make a mistake or had very bad game. he just wasn't as great as his usual self.

when people use this game as proof for saying he is overrated you know how good he is.

No Kompany was NOT top 3 last year. I kept saying last year how he was overrated on here and quite frankly by the media.

And I can agree that Varane is arguably top 10 atm but saying he's top 5 is just outrageous.
