Why have they not bought in any class defenders this window?

surely from last year you would of thought that it should of been a priority?

no...oh well

They'll get Sakho i think. They've gotten nowhere with Silva... but they've already asked about Sakho and PSG answered the phone on that one Laughing

I think once Marguinhos drops, they move on Sakho pretty quickly.

I can't imagine they're just ignoring the issue, and whilst it perhaps would have been better to move earlier in the window for a defender or two, there' still plenty of time before the season begins and the even more-so before the window closes.

Their defence is great, especially Jordi Alba

Alba's shown he has the ability and if someone with the discipline and leadership skills of Puyol had played more often, we'd have seen a better defensive display from Alba.

They're interested in Thiago Silva and Marquinhos currently.

Plus there others like Agger and Hummels who are occasionally linked. I'm sure they'll get someone before the end of the transfer window.

Tbh not only should a class CB come in, but a great, more conservative LB should come in like Filipe Luis.

But then again, Alba is a great defender Rolling Eyes

I imagine by the end of the window we'll pick up a DM and convert him to CB and ignore the LB area and we'll be good to go Thumbs up

Both Alves and Alba shouldn't really be playing. Barca need some height in the team and both Alves/Alba can be a bit haphazard defensively at times.

Although if Barca return to their usual pressing like it was under Pep, then 2 attacking fullbacks may work.

The Barca defense would be a lot better off if the team pressed again.

TBH I don't think buying T.Silva will fix their problems, learning to press as a unit will.

New goalkeeper.

Valdes is a joke. He choked hard in the last 2 CL-exits Barca had.

They need a leader in that backline. Puyol has been sorely missed.

Dude I know 20 Million aint much nowadays, but we (at least for me) begrudgingly now have that much more to spend on almost anyone defensively. It's up to the board now because defensively there are few players which we CAN'T obtain. Again though, it's up to our board.

If I'm not wrong you need 3 defenders. One to pair up with Pique, one as his backup if he sucks again and one leftback. I also wonder who you lot will field in midfield with little pressing. Xaviniesta with biscuit won't do imo, you need more muscles.

one leftback? those are in such high demand due to lack of good ones I'd say Adriano is a good backup and even Montoya who has shown his versatility to work in the left side.

Pretty pist how we took Alba instead of Flipe Luiz. Alba is not a defender and hasn't solved our height problem at the back...
I have this feeling that we will not be buying a centre back this season. We have not be rumoured with anyone apart from T.Silva and its clear he will not be going anywhere both club and agent confirmed.
Our other possibilities are not as likely either...
Agger is pretty much as committed to Liverpool as Gerrard is as well as Liverpool losing alot of the backs already. He won't be going anywhere anytime soon...
David Luiz was Chelsea's best back last season and would be a high risk paying 35-40 million for a guy who isn't a constant performer and has mental breakdowns every game or so...
Marquinhos has pretty much completed a move to PSG and even if we do try to compete for him, PSG will simply outbid us
Koscielny has said that he will be staying this summer and he is their best back so...
Vermealen Laughing Does anyone need to talk about him any further?

the current barca backline makes me lick my fingers and dream of a clasico
Am split over the backline in the sense that i want barca to get a good centre back so that we (madrid and barca) can bounce back and reclaim our rightful place at the pinnacle of european football, but on the contrary, i just love wen my team plays against the current barca backline. i can imagine how it would be now with the same players but with more creativity, which means more chances would be created.

Just on Alba I dont agree a lot of it. I think hes a top signiong and been great for us. Our style is attacking now and to have him and Alves is wonderful. Obviously that means a little less emphasis on defense, but I dont agree hes a bad defender.
