Is it me or Benzema has wronged the expectations of what an attacker should do on a football pitch? (for madrid fans i mean)

ps: in 10 minutes morata had more box "presence" than benzema for crying out loud.

Ronaldo isn't the only guy he can get a pass from lol

Besides I'm sure if Benz is in a good position Ronaldo will pass him the ball. Cris usually shoots from distance when the guys have pretty much ran of ideas when trying to penetrate, before that he is usally very involved in the passing.

lol that's silly, Benzema never messes the flow of the team. his football IQ is like over 8000. his guts rating is negative tho, so it balances out.

It's not Benzema's space if he's never in it and when Cristiano scores a goal a game anything and everything he does works.

Last season Benzema was talking about winning the Balon D'Or one day. Well he needs to show that he seriously believes what he says.

EDIT: Going to skip the song and dance. I said he almost always passes to the open man as in anyone who is on for a tap in. Hence my Ozil and Morata examples and the subject being Benzema's lack of presence in the box.

Cris shoots a lot but he shoots because a) he sees a good chance to score b) the team has run out of ideas.

to be fair with Benzema though the team is built around Ronaldo
just like any team is built around a world class player, so of course the midfielders are going to overlook benz to pass to CR7.
Benzema should honestly leave once Bale comes though it'd make it much easier on Madrid as-well without having tension in the locker room.

If Ozil has the ball and both Benzema and Ronaldo are running into space... Guess who the ball goes to.

And I'm not taking anything away from Ronaldo, he puts in the effort and gets us the goals/results

Really? I disagree, he usually makes the right decision, especially most recently in our games

As said, I like benz, but stop with the bullshit excuses. He needs to step up, but on another note buying bale is not the answer. He's shown it enough this preseason, he deserves a full season with no one breathing down his neck

And remind me, how many long shots has ronny taken so far. Really because it cant be that much.

Tbh this goes both ways imo, benzema gets ignored fact! no denying that, maybe he should rage at the midfield and cr for more passes, but the team also need to make an effort to get the ball to him especially when we passing the ball better, cr doesn't have to be the first option 99% of the time.

Benzema being ignored or not is irrelevant, he's still shit for France, just like he is for us. He doesn't get ignored for France, he just sucks.

The interesting thing is that while the majority of the discussion have been about what you mentioned, CR and Bale partnership would exist because Bale would send Benzema to the bench or to another team. So in essence, the discussion is legit to me.

Anyway, I say have faith in Benzema for the upcoming season. His link up play, intelligence and that wonderful talent meshes quite well in the final third. My issue, forgets he is a God damn striker. I know we like to get hung up on the more technical positions in football but Benzema is a striker and needs to genuinely start playing like one.

In all fairness, whether Bale is better than Benz or vice versa is of little importance to me, once Real Madrid wins and wins well, I'm all in. We tend to get attached to certain players on the team too much honestly and forget they are a part of it and not the be all and end all...

Just to put things in perspective, Drogba scored a total of 16 goals in all comps his first year at Chelsea and 16 again in his second year... He was being rotated those 2 years (averaged 30 starts and 10 subs). Once he was handed the keys and given a chance to be the clear #1 at his position his 3rd year, he took off (54 starts in his 3rd year). If he was at Madrid, he'd never have made it...
