If PVE is legit and challenging I'll have plenty of fun in that.

'Boss' monsters in games have the challenging feel of PVP if they're done right without the rage that comes with another human being winding you up

In the Beta there was only one Explore map (Old Russia) but there were generally 20 others in it at least when I was playing there... and it was a pretty huge map so things didn't feel too crowded either.

I'm not sure if I'll take part if the Raid, since they're so damn long and you need a party of 6 to start it, and because Bungie, being as predictably stubborn as they are, are refusing to learn from the huge mistake they made with Firefight Mode in ODST, and haven't included a matchmaking system for Raids, so you have to organise your own group to deal with the Raid.

Not to worry though, they'll probably patch in matchmaking for the Raid a couple of months after launch, once they see it die as fast as Firefight mode did.

Bummer, was looking forward to playing with all the lads on here.

One of the things to think about is that the PvE in this game is more fun when playing in a fire squad. It'll be especially more fun with friends, but even with randoms it'll be better than going at it alone. Getting this game later on might not be the best choice if you are going to want to play it with friends.

Anyway, from what I gathered from playing the beta, Iron Banner is absolutely shite. I understand why they put this mode in, they are taking more of an MMO type approach here, but balance in competitive multiplayer is everything. I played the 'normal' mode that was available in the beta (the name escapes me) quite a bit and always ended up as first or second in my team. When I started playing Iron Banner I kept being among the worst players simply because others had better gear. Unless you have full on legendary gear I would stay the hell away from this PvP game mode.

They should handle it better than rockstar potentially.

They are probably about as good as it gets in terms of mainstream company and matchmaking goes.

I don't we will have a problem in that regard.

In previous games Bungie were using Microsoft servers though, pretty much the most reliable out there. We'll see how they handle it this time.

I hope those little pricks who brought down PSN, Battle.net, Brazzers etc over the weekend don't bring down Destiny servers on launch day. I need something to play when I come back from work

It seems like there won;t be any Destiny reviews at launch because Activision are only sending out review copies a day before the game releases.

Why are Activision doing an EA?

Perhaps because you need a good basis of players online to properly review a game built around multiplayer online gaming?

I agree, the thing is with most online focused games, the developers usually have hundreds of their own people in a closed server playing the game, and reviewers are usually entered into that server once they get their review copies, and then kicked out on release day.

I know with Diablo 3's original release on PC for example, review copies were sent out a couple of weeks in advance and then embargo'd upon release.

Obviously, in hindsight reviewers should have waited until launch day to judge the final game, since it was always online and D3 servers were effed on launch day. However, they can definitely review the content of the game in advance, and then reserve a final rating to see how it holds up in the real world.

Considering in Destiny, you can have 3-6 people in the campaign(Strike, Explore, Raid), and 12 players in multiplayer matches, you don't need thousands upon thousands of people to get an understanding on the campaign content for example.

I don't know we'll see, but this news doesn't fill me with confidence. Activision may be envisioning another Diablo 3 fiasco and are panicking. But thinking about, if another Diablo 3 fiasco does occur, delaying reviews will make it worse, since reviewers will actually take the issues into account in their final review score, and mark the game down, whilst if they had reviewed the game before release, they would have given it a higher score since there would have been no issues.

I don't know, it's just a thought. It might be something else.

Yeah, it was more even since no one knew what the classes were and what they did, but now, Warlock and Hunter are getting lots of love. The Titan is being ignored because it doesn't have magic powers like the Warlock or a fancy sword class like the Hunter

Could have fooled me Bungie. A social world where there is no proximity voice chat and no text communications, you can't even talk to random's without adding them to your party, if they even acknowledge the invite that is.  Dancing/pointing/waving does not a social world make.

Destiny live-action trailer released a short while ago. Why is the Hunter always in the middle? This is bullshit.

Hunter is the only one who doesn't have its super shown... clearly they're favouring the other two classes there.
