Vincenzo Montella sacked by Fiorentina for a "lack of respect":

Jorge Jesus is now Sporting Lisbon manager, btw.

Michael Laudrup wanted to talk, and so did Frank de Boer.

For a couple of days last week, Patrick Vieira was open to the idea of discussing Newcastle United’s head coach vacancy as a way of fast-tracking his own managerial development – before the interest fizzled out with both parties adamant that the other one had been the instigators.

There had been others, too. With Remi Garde it went as far as the interview process while Christophe Galtier and Jocelyn Gourvennec, talents, would have been amenable.

Yet Newcastle took a head count of these candidates – one or two of whom might have had a seriously transformative impact on the club – and went, instead, for Steve McClaren.

Not sure whether i should laugh or cry.

Cry imo.

No idea who it is but seems like we are getting a new backroom staff with the new manager.

As Carver and the entire backroom staff from Pardew is being sacked.

FC Schalke 04 are after Augsburg's Markus Weinzierl now. Looks like Marc Wilmots is too expensive... If Markus Weinzierl is clever, he will say "thanks, but no thanks" and just enjoy the season with Augsburg.

Weinzierl is a smart guy and has declined Schalke's offer, according to SportBild and kicker and his agent.
Thank god, I like Weinzierl and he doged a bullet there.

Looking forward to watching Newcastle lose to West Ham in the pouring rain, with McLaren standing there with his umbrella.

McClaren's one of those sit-in-the-stand managers these days, so unfortunately you may not get to see him with an umbrella.

I wonder if he'll take Will Hughes with him to Newcastle.

I don't know, McLaren doesn't strike me as a charismatic and motivational manager and that's what Newcastle's squad needs. It could end badly.

No lol.

Although the board of directors has been revamped....

It consists of Carr ( head scout and basically DOF) McClaren, Charnley (finance pos) and Moncur ( captain of the last team to win a trophy and all round Ashley dickrider)

From what I read, the Basel fans in certain forums are more than happy to see him leave. They said it is actually great that they don't have to sack him and continue to pay him, but instead get some transfer fee for him XD
