That second goal has NOTHING to do with your defense. Pepe and Ramos and the other dude in the box have no other choice then to be on line with the ball, before its get played back. Its your (defending) midfield that should be marking the outside of the box

What? Neither Arbeloa or Pepe attacked the ball when it came through to Arda

Ofcourse not, they are never going to step back because a player behind them can make a run in front of them.

They were deep in the box, Arda didn't have a better option than to shoot it.. Anyone behind them would of been called for an offside tbh

You can perhaps argue what your saying if Garcia shoots it, because Pepe/Ramos has let him drift off into space. But to be fair to Pepe he is standing at the angle to block the side of the goal Iker isnt covering.

But Arda is totally free and was totally free for the entire build up, the defence all had someone to mark.

Its easy to say push up, but there wasnt enough time for that at all.

Modric (I think) running back late is the man who should of been there already.

Blue: expectated cross
Green: actual cross
Red: should be marking

Ramos and Pepe are doing just fine - them stepping into Turan would give the extra Atletico in the box a chance to cut inside

When the ball came back across I think Pepe could of stepped up to since he wasn't really marking anybody..

I agree with Collbanc, Pepe was positioned correctly for that goal, Ramos was positioned correctly for the cross but when the ball got to Garcia he was ballwatching instead of trying to close the angle. The main culprits are Kroos and Modric though, Kroos was sucked to the sides when Isco was already there leaving his side empty forcing Modric to cover that space but it was done with so little coordination both were jogging back expecting the other to get into the box leaving Garcia/Arda absolutely unmarked. Schoolboy defending there by them. Similar goal happened against LaReal too so we are not seeing the improvement Carlo promised just yet

Thats a scary scoreline...some real nice goals, although Depor were really poor. Real sitll conceded 2 though. But thats a sign of things to come, they will score a lot but also concede quite a lot i believe this season.

Osasuna 6 - 4 Mallorca

Both Atleti and LaReal struggling in the league and we lost to both of them

Messi is going to absolutely smash the assist record this season but he is in a bit of dry scoring run atm

The red was very harsh IMO. Penalty yes, red no.
