MLS is apparently ignoring it's own rules to some extent (once again) to allow Jones to join the Fire directly, with MLS officials telling Lalas that "Designated Players of a certain threshold as determined by the league" skip the Allocation Ranking.
It won't mean much if Yallop remains as manager though, I fear.

Would've been so much better if we still had Klopas.
Nonetheless, a good signing in general.
Not so sure. I certainly LIKE Klopas more as a person and manager, but his term at Chicago wasn't really too great either. Chicago needs to make some fundamental changes to their entire set-up as nothing within the club has been working in recent seasons on or off the pitch. No real driving strategy is apparent at any level from managerial hiring, to transfers, to on-the-pitch tactics. While Jones is a great player, he's not the type to raise the entire team/club's performance and he's not really a player (in terms of age or style/temperament) that you can build a side around. If the club make him a type of statement signing I fear it will only be papering over quite large and growing cracks as we continue to fall behind the rest of the league.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VIII
I think you still haven't understood how Bayern work. They said they are going to keep Manuel Neuer, and that means they will do so, no matter the money offered. The Bayern big wigs are former football players, not merchants who just work to gain money and thus they will not sell players for business reasons.Don't call me James wrote:yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah no. They'd ship him out the second they received the fax with the offer on it.
The only exception are players who actively want away and whom they can replace without compromising the sporting success. If they need a player and he has a contract, they have no problems with having his contract run down and let him go for free (see Michael Ballack).
Incidentally, Dortmund by now can allow themselves to do the same, that is why they prefered to keep Robert Lewandowski until the end of the contract even if it meant letting him leave for free.

Arsenal need a player like Arbeloa with Bacary Sagna gone. He will help against the bigger teams defensively. Better than whoever the RB is. Can't have a record of 17 goals concede in away games to the Top 3 team

Sky Sports also confirming this. Moreno is expected to cost £20m. Manquillo is reported to be a loan, possibly for 2 seasons with an option to buy for £6m at the end of it.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VIII
Manchester City are planning one more summer deal, with only a centre-back required to complete their squad.
That is the opinion of chief executive Ferran Soriano, with City working under strict orders from UEFA.
Soriano told the Men In Blazers podcast: “We don’t plan season by season, we plan in cycles. And cycles can be three, four, five seasons.
“One year ago, we knew the positions we wanted to reinforce in the team and we did it.
“We have a new right-back, we have a holding midfielder, we’ll have a new central defender and that’s it.
“We don’t need to sign new players for the sake of it.
“We need to sign players that the team needs because the team has a balance. To win you need to keep the balance.
“Our squad is very strong and it’s the second year that they play with Manuel Pellegrini, so they’ll do much better.”
