Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Falcao loan 20m. Thoughts? (other than how ridiculous the idea is).. Just for fun though..
They pay his wages but we can't really say we save 15-20m on the deal because he gets paid X amount... lets say we had another striker of Falcaos stature - we would probably not pay more than 220k p/week, that's about 11m for the year.
So 9m "out of pocket" to sign Falcao for a year. Seems like a decent deal to me. Has its advantages in some ways to sign someone we don't really want on a 3-4 year contract. Particularly if that 9m will give us a genuine crack at the title/CL.

So Wenger on buying a new striker said: "Nobody!"
Absolutely ridiculous. Wenger wants to turn Sanchez into his very own Luis Suarez, but he doesn't have the formation for that. Unless he wants to change it
I don't get it. Why are we experimenting stuff when we don't have the players for it, especially knowing we could fall out of the title race in the space of 4-6 matches.

Sokratis would be brilliant, but I don't see why he would move to Arsenal to be a backup when he already starts for Dortmund besides I don't see why Dortmund would sell him in the first place and for €15m.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Or he is a dictator and refuses to listen to common sense. We have needed a proper CF, left wing and DM for how many years now. Last year instead of any of these positions he opted to go out and get Flamini on a free and another creative attacking mid. Deciding to either play the current CAM Cazoral or new CAM Ozil as a left wing when neither of them do the position justice for different reasons. This year once again we needed a CF and a DM along with replacements. So he went out and got a winger and replacements.
Can he work out to be a Suarez? After Theo gets back and if there was a pacey left wing that stays on the left that completes the attacking trident. Sure that would scare most teams in the same way Suarez, Sterling and Sturidge did. We just do not have those players unless Wengers decides to stop playing a CAM on the left.

This dictator nonsense came straight from Stewart Robson's mouth and if you believe the words of a bitter man who was sacked for insulting his boss publicly then I don't even know.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Actually have never heard Stuart Robson say that. It actually came from the definition of dictator.
A dictator is a ruler who wields absolute authority.
Which in my case was derived from the fact that Wenger does not care about any sort of popular opinion. It is his way period!!!!!
It has been popular opinion from just about every pundit in the world along with most people on these boards that AFC have needed to have a DM and CF for a few years now. Before that conventional wisdom has always been that we have been 1 or 2 players away from actually competing for the EPL and CL. Wenger wielding his absolute authority (dictatorship) has consistently opted to not strengthen in areas that conventional wisdom says that he should.
Does it necessarily insinuate the slanderous conclusion that you assume. There are cases in which a dictatorship is necessary. Come to your own conclusion.
I will stick by the description though.

To be honest, I never once heard anyone call Arsene Wenger a dictator before Stewart Robson, and I mean it in the negative connotation that he used it in. This myth spread from him and has since taken it's BS roots in the minds of WOB everywhere.
His transfer policy and decisions are one thing, he's the manager, but this notion that he refuses to listen to advice from his staff or take in anything that would go against his vision is all baseless.

Our tentative links with Destro are dead, it would seem.
Roma President James Pallotta on striker Mattia Destro: “Destro is absolutely not for sale and never has been."
We're also equally tentatively linked with Alvaro Arbeloa...

Good read here it is old but still a good read.

WOB's, AKBs
They are both a bunch of crap. Like the article says if you are going to question back it up. If you are going to support then don't do it blindly.
Does Arsene make mistakes and bad decisions. Absolutely he does! Does Arsene care if the media and pundits question him. Not at all he seems to "wield total power" at AFC as far as transfers, tactics, the starting X1 and subs. With that comes with is total responsibility for the outcome.

This isn't even in line with what I said. My sole point was that this image of Wenger not taking advice and running Arsenal Tony-Montana-style is unfounded. Maybe I lost you by using the WOB acronym. Anyway this isn't the thread for this.
Can't believe we're suckering Norwich into making a profit on Miquel

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Rumours Thread
Borussia Dortmund turned down Arsenal’s initial offer for Sokratis Papastathopolous. The Gunners today made an official offer to the German club: 15 million euro plus bonuses, but the German club considered that to be too low. The negotiation will however continue, since the Gunners haven’t given up on acquiring the Greek defender.

Nice. Hope we can get him.

I really can't imagine that Dortmund would sell him. Why?
That would mean the backups for Subotic, who's just back from a torn ACL, and Hummels, who is injured from the WC, would be 20 year old Ginter and 19 year old Sarr.
They only got Sokratis last year, and he started most of it due to the many injuries of the others.
Makes no sense, and it's not like they'd have a lot of time and opportunity to get a replacement.
Really don't think there's anything to it.

yeah I know, also Falcao isn't getting any younger, but I meant it's an odd statement from a vice-president. As if it was completely out of his hands..

Arsene,at least get a more reliable back than Sanogo
what happens when we feel the need for Giroud's presence up front like vs everton??
Sanogo atm isnt even major aerial threat, though can still hold on to ball but very sluggish
+the side we played vs Besiktas was very small
cant get away with that in Premiership
unless at least we add some muscle to midfield
atm it looks like we may only add a back up CB and may not even that
Gamble

We could have a chance at Falcao IF madrid don't buy him.
But I don't know if Arsene is in it or not. I don't think he is. But he is never open about these things.
Best is to keep the hopes low.
