Ancelotti, AVB, Di Matteo, Benitez, Mourinho, Inzaghi. They all just so happened to be having the same negative effect on him and his form, one after the other, and without fail, huh? Some of them the best managers on the planet.
The difference is that Torres is now at Milan, which is below Chelsea's quality. Ancelotti, AVB, Di Matteo, Benitez, Mourinho, these coaches dropping or unfavouring Torres for Chelsea isn't the same thing as when he's at AC Milan. No disrespect to Milan. But I think those coaches would give Torres more chances if they were in charge of this Milan team.

Another one totally missing the point.
You can't say 'Inzaghi and the players are the main reason Torres is playing poorly because he's not being made to feel warm and fuzzy enough and not getting enough service', while at the same time completely and totally ignoring all the instances where he was undisputed first choice, where did play with infinitely better players, where he did have superb service, and where he did play under managers who unquestionably knew what they were doing, and still looked like a hunk of shit.
It's actually remarkable that we're still having this conversation; that we're pretending there's actually some debate still to be had; that there are actually people who believe that his 5 years of utter uselessness regardless the club, manager, or players around him is somehow anyone's fault but his own. Beggar's belief.
World Cup-winning manager and team, multiple Champions League winners, League title out the rear, best coaches in the world, best players in the world, yet still utter shite throughout.....but yes, it's Inzaghi and Menez's fault he's not playing well

My 8 favourite interviewees: Fernando Torres
Obviously, Liverpool supporters have a different view of Torres now compared to when he was in his prime and although that's entirely understandable, it's also a bit sad because there was a time when they shared a mutual respect and affection that verged on being extraordinary. The first time I discovered just what Liverpool meant to Torres was before the 2-0 win over Inter Milan at Anfield in February 2008.
Torres was still learning English at the time and I was given the opportunity to do the first interview with him in his new language. It took place at a cafe in West Derby, around the corner from Melwood, and although by then he had already established himself as one of English football's most prolific marksmen, he arrived with no entourage and no translator. The interview itself was interesting but it was when the tape was switched off that Torres really came into his own. By then, he'd spoken enough about himself and all he wanted to do was talk about Liverpool, particularly the Kop and what it was like to sit or stand there. An interview that was supposed to take no more than 20 minutes ended up lasting more than an hour, during which his affection for Liverpool became increasingly obvious.
Even though it still hurts how he left I would take him back. Come home El Nino.

It would be just like Liverpool, too, to bring back a shot player on 6 figures a week over nostalgia. Brilliant if it came off.

"Feel good factor" signing. He's done. Similar to Kaka really. Great in his prime, but injuries brought them both down and they both really lived off of hype after that. I just wish Torres recovers mentally. Seems a little depressed.

If Simeone gets him to perform he should receive a manager of the century award or something. I'd rate that achievement higher than winning La Liga with Atleti.

He's going back to his old stomping ground, could very well contribute consistently

Why does this guy keep getting chances at good teams?
He's *bleep* awful. Honestly can't believe Atletico gave us Cerci for Torres, can they really be that clueless??

Most likely marketing reasons. Cerci isn't playing anyway for Atleti. Might just as well get Torres to sell some shirts + nostalgia. Also you just know he will score his only goal of the season in Camp Nou.

Isn't Cerci going on loan?
He can develop at Milan, whilst Torres will be used as cover. Atletico Madrid still love Torres so really, it's a win win for all.

"Develop" a 27 year old player? Cerci is at his prime, he's not going to improve much.

He's the AVB of football players. Crap everywhere he's been since 2011 yet still keeps walking into top club after top club. What a job.

Thought he was younger to tell you the truth.
Meh. Better him being at Milan though. A run of consistent games will get his confidence back up, and he's just going to stagnate sitting on the bench if he was to stay in Madrid right now. Maybe he could offer something in the future for them. But he hasn't really impressed in Spain as of right now.

Cerci was always touted as a future star, but he has only hit top form in the last couple of seasons. In particular, last season he formed one half of arguably the best striker partnership in Serie A along with Ciro Immobile at Torino.

Re: Torres Appreciation Thread
How serious is this Cerci-Torres deal/rumor???
Why would Atletico want such deal. May be Cerci hasn't done well or isn't slotting-in, but Torres has been abysmal for three years now.
