If Inter really do want Lucas I would be angling hard to try and grab Kovacic in a swap deal. Probably won't happen, but it would be ideal.

Anyway, we've been rumoured with just about every player out there right now. All I care about is that if we're going to make buys this winter that they are done early and fast. No drawn out negotiations and no waiting around until the last minute. Buy a keeper right away, get him in, and anything else added/sold do the same. We don't have time to wait to 'improve' our squad this window.

Can't see them ever agreeing to that.

However, they will probably sell if we met their valuation of him. Whatever that is 20m or 25m or 30m...

Well that's what I mean. Don't think they'll take Lucas as part of any deal with Kova. Probably tell us to pay up or gtfo. I'm sure Inter is still pissed at us for ripping them off in the Coutinho deal.

Even if they are interested in Lucas, they would probably like to the Lucas deal completely separately.

Do we need him!!! I don't about him but what I gather he is an AM and we got several players for that position. Also, let's not buy 'for the future' anymore.

Actually he's as good at CM as he is at AM. Super ultra creative. Can play both of those positions to a tee.

I think outside of mid to top range players we don't really have much of a choice to 'buy for the future' otherwise we're overpaying for players like Lallana and Lovren who are good (I know Lovren is in poor form) but not elite. If we want top tier players that can be difference makers we have to find them before they become that good, at least right now. Unfortunately we just don't have the clout to go out and land players like Sanchez, Hazard, Fabregas, Matic, Shaqiri, Jovetic, Di Maria, etc. over the other teams available to them right now. Hell, only a season ago players were genuinely picking the Spurs over us. I think Rodgers is building the team the right way for the future. A few duds, but ultimately these young guys are all going to be coming into their primes together and as long as we don't lose them before they do hit that age we could grow into a club that can attract the best players.

Unfortunately we just don't have the clout to go out and land players like Sanchez, Hazard, Fabregas, Matic, Shaqiri, Jovetic, Di Maria, etc. over the other teams available to them right now.

I suspect we lack the fire/hunger/killer instinct with regards to transfers and simply hide behind excuses.

Though Bascombe is a moderately reliable source, that seems highly unlikely. Specially can't see Flanno & Sakho leaving!!! NO WAY!

Sakho - No damn way we should try to move him on.

Johnson - We need to find someone better than what we have if we were to let him go. I don't think any of our other RBs are good enough to be 1st choice.

Flanagan - Like I just said, I don't think he's got the quality to be 1st choice, but would be harsh to let him go.

The rest (apart from Skrtel) I don't care that much what happens with them.


Anyway, Rodgers has said that it's possible we'll spend in January. I can't be the only one thinking "great, he's going to waste even more of our cash". There will be immense focus on what ever signings we make, and immense pressure to buy smart, to buy players who will slot in successfully. All eyes on our transfer dealings.

Also Mattia Perin is linked whom I personally like. And loosely linked with Shaqiri but seems like he's going to Juve.

That Berahino rumour is surely just the Metro taking the piss on Liverpool fans.

If Shaqiri is available we should be looking at that, although we are a bit stacked with AMs already. Also, Juventus might be more attractive to him now, guaranteed CL football, last summer was probably our chance to get Shaqiri.

As far as players leaving, I think Borini and Mignolet will be sold this month for sure. I just think Brenda has lost all hope for both.

I haven't lost all hope in Mignolet, he can play better than what we've seen this season. It would also be difficult to move him on, I don't imagine there are many clubs in need of him with his Liverpool-level wages.

Make 15m bid for Kovacic, They want 20m. Look elsewhere.

Trigger 20m release clause for Griezmann, He wants 100k or CL football, We can offer him 86.32k and EL. Look elsewhere
