Come on gents, stats are important just like in everyday use. It's when ~~Futbol~~ ~~Harmonica~~ a politician or a rather interesting forum user uses it to suit their argument where it usually causes contention.

With the case of football, I have no issue with seeing stats. It gives further detail into players and player information and if I'm not mistaken, scouts use it to assess players. But they usually use it in correlation with actually seeing the player in action.

With that being said, wide assist stat is f-ing rubbish.

Okay i guess i'll explain myself a little better.

Stats in isolation are fine, it's just the over use of them which ticks me off especially when it comes to the point where they are seen as a more important factor than actually watching games.

No amount of stats will ever tell me what Messi or who ever else does on a football pitch, numbers don't replicate that.

Alongside Iniesta however I don't see how this will work. We already have problems as it is to control games sometimes with Rakitic who is also more of an attacking midfielder but at least Rakitic adapted to a more conservative role while Pogba is much more of a skill player who wants to shoot and dribble.

But if that list is legit then Pogba must be even worse than I thought. For him to be disposessed more than our forwards is amazing

Yes, and I would be the last one to claim Skrtl was super duper just because Whoscored says so. However "Pogba loses the ball a lot for a midfielder because statistically he loses the ball a lot and I don't know if he would fit in at CM for Barca" is a different kind of statement surely. Laughing

Not to discount 'stats', of course, but I have my doubt whether whoscored's numbers can actually be trusted in any way.

Remember that WC game, was is Netherlands, where they had Messi with 0 turnovers and 3 dispossessed or something, when he kept losing the ball all game?
I remember we had a discussion about it, even gifs to prove them wrong.

Problem is, noone draws the necessary conclusions.
Which are, if they have wrong numbers in a World Cup semifinal for the world's most famous player, why the hell should we assume they get correct numbers in these categories for all those regular players in all those regular league games?!

What if half their numbers are plain wrong? Does anyone bother to check lol? Of course not, but everyone's quoting them left and right.
