Normally someone as tactically astute as Big Sam wouldn't get outclassed. But Pardew is an exception.
Great stuff between two legendary english managers.

lol, he's got RVP, Falcao and Rooney, how about you try to get more out of them and play better football, Louis, maybe then you'd have a 20-goal striker

Everytime I seen him he's played on the wing or upfront
If he was playing CM I'll accept it because he was inconsistent at best as a RW at Madrid or Argentina for that matter but great in the middle for both club and country.
Upfront doesn't even need to be explained lol, just like playing Roonay as a CM doesn't. Not sure what Van Gaal is playing at.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V7
Also, how about Peter Crouch?
The dude's 34 and comes again off the bench to score the only goal of the game as Stoke win - his 3rd straight PL game in which he scores despite starting only one of them
Furthermore, his minutes-per-goal ratio in the Prem is 195 mins-per-goal this season.
Welbeck is 387 minutes, in spite of being 10 years younger.
Lukaku is 296 minutes per goal.
Pelle is 300 minutes per goal.
Van Persie is about the same as Crouch, 198 mins.
Crouch, what a legend

Speaking of which I think Cisse's is around 80 per goal lol.
Shame we have no creativity and he's basically playing with no knees seemingly.

He's been really bad, mate. I want him to come good but there's no excusing performances like the ones he's been putting recently.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V7
Playing a player out of position leads to bad performances and bad performances leads to lack of confidence.
Just look at Cavani, one of the best in the world and then gets stuck on the wing loses his confidence and now even struggles through the middle.
He was fantastic for Madrid, Argentina and Benfica through the middle and inconsistent at best elsewhere yet Van Gaal wants to mess around with that?
He needs to fix it soon before Di Maria goes the same way, Falcao is beyond repair as his knees are *bleep* but Di Maria is because Van Gaal thinks he's more clever than he is.
He was great before injury in the middle but ever since then Van Gaal has moved him all over the place and his performances have dropped.

Its not van gaal's fault entirely though. You buy a player (like di maria) for such a huge amount of money and naturally the player will be your most important one. So here he is given a free role, to do whatever he want on the pitch. Heck, he is given even the no.7 shirt to make united fans not miss ronaldo.
He is the prime creative force in the side, the onus is on him to create for the team. Where as at Madrid, it wasnt the same scenario as you all know. He was the engine there, the most vital cog in the wheel. He was expected to defend equally well. But here I am not so sure about that.
And thats the reason I find it amusing all these reports the English media is spewing that he is not interested, he has not got the attitude and all. First of all the guy is adjusting to the the league and he is a mental midget, he is a confidence player who thrives on it to take on players (thats why his start was so promising here, he simply carried the Real form and when it ended, he cant even get past scrubs) along with he being small in physique.
And then secondly, I dont think di maria will be the same here as it was at Madrid. But as I said, because we are far too dependent on him for creativity, lvg cant be criticized for not putting him in a supporting role as in Madrid. They had all those beasts playing in front of him, where as for us he is the beast. So its kinda different that way.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V7
So playing a player who has thrived as a CM in 3 different situations and playing him upfront isn't a problem lol?
Term it how ever you want, he's playing out of position and has been since he returned from injury. He was fine in his natural position and suddenly struggles to perform when he's being deployed outside of where he's effective.
It's completely on Van Gaal, playing someone who thrives at driving at teams and penetrating the defenses up front is utterly moronic because he's constantly back to goal and no space to drive.
It's the equivalent of deploying an attacking fullback as a winger just because he has some offensive qualities, it's utterly stupid. Also you say it's on him to create for the team? Yh he was when he actually was used in a position where he's effective, how can you expect someone to perform for you when you deploy him in areas where his strengths are completely negated.
