Re: Pedro follows Cesc to Chelsea
The word is overused a bit by now but this guy is actually the definition of a "fraud". No idea how else to describe the fact that this guy was deemed a starting XI player for Barcelona for about 4 - 5 years. If I add up he had something like 1 1/2 good seasons total in his life but not even a single consistent season, not even in his peak in 10/11. In a Globetrotters-like team where Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Villa, Alves were dominating games all he had to do was making runs, defending hard and grabbing a couple of tap-ins from the 300 created chances per game. He managed to do that in a couple of Clasicos and a CL final which made the management believe that he is starting XI material when in reality he is Callejon level at best. It needed that big trashing against Bayern and a title-less season after that for the board to panick and finally realize that we're playing with 9 men with Fabregas and Pedro on the pitch and get rid of both and buy Neymar and Suarez. Absolutely awful player who isn't good at anything.
What's hilarious is that he asked to leave for more playing time and is now finding himself behind Willian in the pecking order. Could have stayed at Barca as a sub behind Neymar, continued to live off that CL final tap-in from 5 years ago, get applauded in his 10 minute cameos from fans that loved him, lived the life in sunny Barcelona and maintained the illusion that he'd "dominate the Premier League like Sanchez".

THIS. during the 2010 season when he was scoring all sorts of goals with his right foot, left foot, from distance. i said to some friends of mine, he's the ideal definition of a 'system player'; those where the words i used. and i remember one of them (who was a barcelona fan, and felt i had sour grapes because pedro had scored against us in our 2 nil loss), saying to me there was no such thing as 'system players'
when your team constantly has the ball, and you have a once in a lifetime player in messi, who teams focus on primarily, you're bound to look better than you are. pedro can have the ball and sprint past the defense, but the primary guy at the back of opponents mind is messi, so even if pedro gets past them, they can quickly address the argentine. and with spain he had prime villa up front (villa hardly gets recognition but he was just as important as xavi to their era)
if pedro had stayed with them, with the form of suarez and neymar coupled with messi's injury, he'd have performed well, and i bet people would classify him as a top player in his position. nothing wrong with being a system player btw, hell i wish at madrid some of our "talent" could actually understand a system, but i get irritated when we start making scottie pippens look better than they are.....he is really getting exposed, but i think it also has to do with how bad the team is, and not solely his fault

Re: Pedro follows Cesc to Chelsea
System player would imply that he does well in a particular system and not so well outside of it. But that doesn't quite describe the situation. What really happened is that he got carried by his teammates and could hide behind a super team. If he played like he played against Leicester yesterday for Barca in 10/11 Barca would have still won 4-0 without the need of Pedro to make any sort of impact. There would be no criticism. He could go on months without a goal and it wouldn't matter because Xavi, Iniesta, Alves, Messi, Villa all in their primes can solve games with Pedro being a complete passenger as long as he works hard in defense and passes the ball to his teammates and doesn't disrupt the flow of the game. Then he would pop up with a tap-in in a Clasico for people to take note of his existence again and praise him for what a great player he is. I mean in 10/11 he went without a single goal from August to November and with 1 goal from February to May and that is recognized as his best ever season because he scored in 2 Clasicos and in the CL final and showed 3 months of consistent goalscoring form.
The word "fraud" was made for him.
You wouldn't believe how many Barca fans said he would "rip the Premier League to shreds with all DAT space in that league" and "do a Sanchez".

I am laughing as hard now, as I was in the summer.
It wasn't just Barca/La Liga fans mind - it was also a whole bunch of ManU and Chelsea fans repeating that rhetoric.
And now ManU fans are obviously really ecstatic at dodging that bullet.
Also, props to AW for not bowing to public pressure and emotions by bringing Fabreglass back and ruining us.

Re: Pedro follows Cesc to Chelsea
Well, in a disastrous game from all Chelsea players, Pedro basically created from nothing and served their only goal on a silver platter to Remy. Ok, he slipped twice when he could have scored, but definitely not their worst player.

Re: Pedro follows Cesc to Chelsea
No, I said he wasn't far off. If you watch stoitchkov currently, you'd see that's not a far description. Off course, as a players within their eras, stoitchkov was much better.
It seems he was very good last game now that Chelsea player's stopped wanting to sack their manager.

Yeah. You said Stoichkov and Pedro are on a similar level, and Pedro and Müller are basically equal players, except for 'physique' (LOL).

Yes, and it's not really an inacurate description on both.

Re: Pedro follows Cesc to Chelsea
I don't really think that LA MASIA is inferior to BAYERN in fact I think they are better
RAFINHA is better than COSTA, GOTZE,
PEDRO is as good as MULLER, BARTA as good as BOATENG
MUNIR is better than COMAN
GUMBAU and SAMPER are a good pair and nothing inferior to VIDAL and ALONSO pair,
we have GRIMALDO, ROBERTO, who are effective on the wing as much as ALABA, or maybe even better
I believe that LA MASIA is the better team,

RAFINHA is not far from FLOPZE,
PEDRO is not far from MULLER, BARTRA hasn't been as embarrassed as BOATENG was by MESSI.
SAMPER will be better than ALONSO in half a year time,
we have GOATBERTO, who is almost effective as ALABA as a utility player, or maybe even better
I believe that LA MASIA is great
There, fixed it for you.
