Re: The Mule League Denunciation Thread
One other thing that English team lack , is proper managers. Look at the managers they have in Europe:
Mourinho - Washed out and has never been able to take an English team far in Europe. his style of football is suited best to non-English teams in Europe
LVG- Absolute chancer whose most recent european glory (not counting the one before half the GL was born) was due to Robben wonder goals bailing him out.
Wenger- Less said about him in Europe, the better
Pellegrini- A Chilean Mark Hughes. the more money he has, the worse he performs. His best success been at small clubs
Rodgers- LMAOOOOO. Comfortably worst manager in Europe an English team has EVER had.
Pochetino- Who ?
When England dominated Europe in late 00s, they had a refreshed Mourinho, a resilient benitez, a wounded Ferguson wanting to prove himself in Europe, and a Wenger who upped his game after seeing he's surrounded by such greatness.
Those days are gone. the only way is down.

La Liga is by far away the best league in the world. 8th placed scrubs in La Liga like Bilbao will comfortably finish top 4 in England.
Relegation battlers in La Liga like Einar will be easily mid-table here.
Teams like Liverpool and Spurs will struggle to make top half iN La Liga, yet are lauded to challenge for top 4 finish in EPL every single season.
a club with net spend of 60 MILLION EUROS this summer sits bottom of the Premier League now. Just imagine if the bottom club in Spain was allowed to spend that....they'd shit all over any team in england.
If Spanish clubs had the same amount of money poured in, they would also turn incompetent.
Money does not equal success. In fact it has made EPL teams lazy, they just throw money at problems.

Re: The Mule League Denunciation Thread
I do enjoy Mole's rants but I always disagree with his whole "all leagues are crap" mantra. Clearly they aren't and all seem to have usual amount of great teams, good teams, decent teams and cannon fodder teams that act as 3 point atms.
Not shocked by the PSV match but I really wonder how City, who is in good form, happen to lose to Juventus who is honestly struggling to gain form. Like really struggling. I won't denounce this great league but the Manchester clubs really did nonsense.

Couldn't agree more with that.
Something Arsene has been saying for years. In the past teams actually used to build carefully and not throwing shit at the wall in hoping some might stick.

I agree with this tbh. Although the top teams in the EPL are much weaker than top teams in La Liga for sure.

Re: The Mule League Denunciation Thread
EPL managers are just fine. Again all 4 clubs in the CL have managers with a good track record in Europe.
Mou- Nuff said (you can hate the man but can't question his success)
Wenger- Has done well in Europe, baring last year usually gets beat by better teams
LVG- Has a good track record in Europe
Pelle- Has overachieved in Europe in the past, there is no reason he can't do better.
It's not the Managers. I mean if you compare them to other teams managers from other leagues they are just fine.

No worries, Pep Guardiola is coming in about 2-3 years time. He'll restore English pride. Unless he decides to stop at Juve first.

This. La lIga has great coaching and scouting because of the lack of money. The saying more money more problems is applicable here. Europe taking EPL for a ride because of all the money they have to spend and selling players to EPL clubs for silly amount of money. If the EPL starts losing money clubs would be much wiser. That's the same with anything in life not just football.

Yea, the problem is that money does equal success in this tournament.
Just look at the past 10 winners.
Barca, Real, Bayern, Chelsea, Barca, Inter, Barca, United, Milan, Barca
All rich clubs with lots of money.
I agree EPL teams have no clue what to do with there money, but you do need it to win this competition these days.

This statement is just off base.
Are you really sitting here trying to say if Chelsea didn't have Roman they would be a better club.
Or was City a European powerhouse before the Arabs got there?
Look at PSG, it wasn't magic that made them an instant contender in the CL it was money.

I'm saying the EPL as a whole not just City. City and CHelseas problem is that they are tactically inept. Also the EPL is too different from the cl. They play without any tactics and no automasms like the rest of Europe. Thats why they find it difficult to change their game for Europe.

Interesting thing to me is that manager who have shown very good tactics and mindsets outside of the EPL... join the EPL... and water down their approach to adapt to EPL. Why do they do that ffs.

Personally can't wait til next season in the EPL. Pep, Mou (maybe), Klopp and LVG all in the same league. Most entertaining mind games indeed.

Re: The Mule League Denunciation Thread
Because it's an instant results game. EPL teams have too much pressure on them like they are all top teams so managers just try and do plug and play tactics. I also think the refereeing isn't helping as it is too lax but if you take that away the EPL loses its entertainment value.sportsczy wrote:Interesting thing to me is that manager who have shown very good tactics and mindsets outside of the EPL... join the EPL... and water down their approach to adapt to EPL. There is a key difference. Obviously number one is competent. You give someone who is competent he will know what to do with it.
Those clubs were guided by individuals and groups who used their own money to successfully guide them toward their vision.
Money+Competence= success
Here is the difference, most EPL clubs are receiving unearned money due to the success of the league worldwide. They do not know what to do with it, because they did not earn it. Same will happen to La liga too, if suddenly money was poured into them. They will stop doing the hard things like scouting and developing players. Instead they will throw money at things, hey much easier to throw money at problems rather then doing the hard work.

Yeah, Spanish clubs have been down that road and a few of them toyed with going into administration. I don't think they'll repeat the same foolishness they once did.

The EPL best years in the CL came, when the top teams challenged each other to greater heights. Arsenal had the invincibles, then came Romans Chelsea, which caused United to regroup and invested in Rooney and Ronaldo. ahh Golden era of the English league.
The top sides are not challenging each other to new heights unfortunately, little competition at the top. sigh.
