These are good points and you've made me reconsider. Still feel like Mou got Madrid to work as a well oiled machine which naturally helped the transition along (I'd argue that's why Zidane didn't need to be much more than a great motivator), but I'll agree that his influence was less than I thought.

You really think so? All the things you said there are "fading" theories kinda.

It's becoming a general consenseus that Mou DID in fact have a huge role in our success. Mainly he made Ramos, Marcelo, Ronaldo etc. hungrier, less scared and more big game performers. Notably CR became a big game performer under Mou.

Zidane being just a great motivator is a lie and I think most of the Madridistas are agreeing. Not saying he is neccesarily a bad motivator but he couldn't motivate this team anymore hence why he felt quitting was the best option.

I think he had a great influence but nothing larger than Zidane's influence, for example. But our big game performing started under Mourinho, and none can take it from him IMO.

The things Mou did for us:

Gave the green light for Varane
Turned Ramos into a CB
Made Ronaldo a big game performer
Bought Angel Di Maria (Big game player) and Özil
Made Khedira relevant lol
Won La Liga vs the best Barca of all time
Bought Carvalho (great CB)
There is more but I can't think of them right now

Replacing the worst manager in Porto history with the best manager in Porto history doesn't sound so bad on paper.

Before you go posting something about a club, it would be better if you knew something about them. Saying Lopetequi was worst than the likes of Quinito and Mourinho was better than Bobby Robson is blasphemy!

Might be nothing new to some, but I think this is a great read, Mou is really past it it shows, and hes just going downhill from here, unless he goes to a smaller club or a smaller league somewhere thats more behind probably, or just to a place where the players and circumstances suit his own style, which is limited nowadays:

really didn't think they would sack him until closer to the end of the season

team still has huge issues besides him but this was long overdue and hopefully we can see some improvements on the pitch before a proper manager comes in, even if this seasons to be written off, less of a negative approach every fucking game like cowards, if we're gonna lose lets do it in style ffs
