On the same wavelength as Rodgers, he's arguably even worse than Moyes ffs.
What are you on? Everton plays good football and they sit comfortably at midtable. Moyes went like 10 seasons finishing below midtable and he stayed. They are not a club who should expect much more than that. Newcastle has a bigger budget than them, ffs.
No we don't ( well we technically do but we don't use it), i mean they spent near 30m on Lukaku lol.
We rarely spend more than 8m on a player lmao.

Aye but we don't use it, which is the point so it's really irrelevant.
Our highest earner is on 50k and our most expensive purchase is Wijnaldum at 14m. Everton have spent a lot more than we have, in the last 5 years we have barely spent more than we have sold.

Anyway they should be doing more, they have much better players than their position entails.
Although their midfield 3 is crap and Martinez takes blame for that also who either thought having midfielders like Barry, Cleverly and McCarthy was a good idea behind Deulofeu, Lukaku and Barkley.
Not to mention he plays crap like Kone far too often.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '15-'16 discussion V9
I don't think they have such a good team compared to the rest of the league. Everton only really have two class players in Barkley and Lukaku and a developing starlet in Deulofeu.
Many midtable premier league clubs have equally or more talented squads, like Stoke with their tiki-taka attackers, Southamptom with Mané, Van Dijk, Wanyama..., West Ham with better-than-zidane Payet or Chelsea with Fabregas and Hazard.
Really, midtable quality in the premier is just brutal, so a midtable team can be happy if they remain in the league easily.

Everton has a squad worthy of a top 10 finish. Martinez is an awful manager, it's hardly surprising to me that they are not living up to their expectations. He dragged down Wigan himself and now he's doing the same with Everton.
And under Moyes, Everton just finished once under top 10. Wtf you on about?

Everton are 12th.
"Oooh, Everton should be Top 10 and they are 12th mid season! That's 3 positions lower, Martinez should be fired!"
How ridiculous is that.
Btw, Wigan has really made a rebound since Martinez left for greener pastures after securing them their first title in forever, haven't they?

It's difficult to pick yourself up once you go down to Championship tbf. Also, Martinez was the reason they got down in the first place.

You can't actually blame Martinez for Wigan going down. With their budget and the players they had, it was good managerial work that they stayed up as long as they did, Everton obviously recognized this.

Wigan were always likely to go down, Martinez or no. And he did win the FA Cup with them which is a damn impressive feat.
Everton should be challenging the Europa League spots, in any case. They're 12th because defensively they're terrible, and it balances out their high attacking potential.

Moyes was finishing top half when they were in a financial crisis in a stronger era. He didn't have the luxury of signing Lukaku for 30m lmao.
And to your "plays good football" comment, they've won 20 games from their last 60. Rodgers-esque.

I'm sure Wigan fans are more than happy to have won a Cup and go down. A club like Wigan was always going down sooner or later, as it is proved because they are now rorring in League one. But they managed to get a trophy which they won't get again in 50 years, if ever.

I think you fail to understand that Everton doesn't have such a good squad compared to the rest of the PL. The midtable quality in the PL is just very good, and in the end of the day minor details and even luck make you go from 6th to 15th. Anywhere in those positions is a good balance for a PL midtable team IMO.

Dier, Wimmer or Fazio to take his place in defence?

I don't think Fazio is going to make any appearances tbh. I think Poch will be playing Wimmer (who I think has looked great so far). It's possible that Dier moves back though and Bentaleb or Carroll take his spot in the midfield next to Dembele.
Further still, Dele Alli can move back alongside Dembele and then Eriksen goes central and Chadli comes in off the left, which is a possibility given Eriksen has looked better in a central role and Chadli has been good in his appearances since coming back from injury.
Poch has options...it's going to be hard to guess what he does. He will likely go with all of those potential set ups depending on opponent and competition tbh. I think the most likely is simply Wimmer taking his spot, though.

Dier was not a very convincing CB thought.
Oh well, winter market is still open for a new CB.

I've never had many problems with him at CB. He himself feels more comfortable at CB and he often plays as a CB when Spurs are attacking, taking Alderweireld's place or slotting in between Toby and Jan to make a back 3 and push up the right and left backs
Spurs might make a move for a CB but I kind of doubt it tbh

He can't play DM as he's wasted there, Can gets that spot. Henderson is captain and Milner offers something no other midfielder offers.
He should move on for the sake of his career, He can be a proper PL midfielder.
