Rincon is another Sturaro type of player. He can be a good backup option for a couple of years assuming he'll also have a low wage.
But we really need to bring Witsel now. 6-7 mln is bargain even though he'll be available for free in June. Witsel + Rincon woul really help. Send Hernanes to Genoa to make space and save us from seeing that player in bianconero jersey.

Since we've only recently renewed Sturaro what the *bleep* do we need Rincon for? :facepalm:

I mean if Sturaro was gone then yeah I'd understand such a move but why both Rincon and Sturaro for *bleep*'s sake.

Rincon can also play right back. So presumably he will be Lichtsteiner's backup as Alves is out maybe for the year. Also Asamoah and Lemina are gone for a month at Afcon and I'm assuming one or both will be sold in the summer along with Hernanes.

Our midfield will be going through a major overhaul over the next several months. It is our major weakness. Not too long ago it was our major strength. How times have changed.

Rincon passes 10x better than Sturaro or Lemina. He has played regista or mezzala Genoa. With Venezuela he has played in a double pivot. He is not just a tackler.

It's true, he will ditch the Afcon.

He knows that his head is on the block and probably wants to remain at Juventus. Showing loyalty and working hard in training is the best thing he can do in this case.

the official reason Zenith gave for not selling him in August was "having no one to replace him".
they had like 5 months to think about it so i'm confident about the deal being sealed on January 1st.

i don't think half a season of having Witsel is worth losing 6M for ZSP.

Tomas Rincon is much closer to Gennaro Gattuso than Stefano Sturaro. He even looks like him with a similar face and body. And he plays like him too.

He instantly becomes a starter in a 4-3-1-2 as a destroyer. This is the formation that Allegri wants to play. Pjanic needs to play as a trequartista to allow Dybala to focus on scoring goals. If Witsel comes then we have even more power in the middle of the pitch.

Rincon and Witsel can take us to the promised land. No more watching those horrifying passes to the opposition from Lemina, Hernanes and Sturaro. We have ourselves a beauty.

I don't have high hopes for Rincon.. But as long as he plays ahead of Sturaro / Hernanes / Lemina, I'm fine.

That also must mean we get rid of at least one of the above (def. not Sturaro as he has just extended).

Btw, if I recall well Zenit already signed a replacement for Witsel this month. They are just playing hardball again, horribly run club to be honest. Losing 10m each half a season because they think we will overpay.

Totally agreed! I Rincon can make wrong passee though, he js not a passing specialist! I really agree with the video Gigi posted. It actually really makes sense. Hopefully now Mr. Hernanee will leave.

Yep, Zenit already found a replacement. It would be a d*ck move if they don't accept our offer. They are loosing him anyways, so better for the minimum than nothing.

Anyways, past teams are past teams. It doesn't really matter. For all we know Rincon will fit the system and play his role well, he might excel in this environment and if he doesn't, he'll be reduced to a rotational player and provide relief for our starters as we try to contend on as many fronts as possible this season.

I never believed January is the time to make big moves personally, but I like the Rincon signing. I'm certainly not against trying to bolster our midfield because that has clearly been the biggest cause for concern this season.

I'm really hopeful that Witsel joins, I want to see him at Juventus. I think he brings a nice dimension. He has experience and is a talented player, at 6M it's a no brainer and consider Zenit will lose him for free in June, they really ought to take the money at this point.
