if mascherano think about barcelona only, maybe he is correct

but when it come to the football sport as a whole, he was wrong

Will be interesting to see if he renews with Barcelona next summer, I think this is closest of him leaving the club. I also think it's fine what ever he decides, but I rather see him playing his prime in a working team, rather than waste his prime getting the ball from the goalie.

Judging by the context of the sentence what he's saying is that Messi is irreplaceable, which is true. If Messi leaves there are not other 5 Messi level footballers you can sign instead.

Messi is most crucial player for us now more than ever. We are in transition and he is this only player that can make it smooth. He is the only man that will decide if Barca wil rise again or will it be reduce to former great now pub level teams like Milan.

Messi is incredible but did he stop us from being rolled over 4-0? No. Is that level of play acceptable? No. Is the problem Messi? Not all of it, but watching him walk around the pitch like he was more interested in the Doritos he didn't get to finish at half time than winning the game summed up the performance of him and the team.

Messi himself is surely irreplaceable, but the team can reach new heights without him. He destroys the press and offers no off the ball movement. I do not necessarily wish for him to leave but if it must be so, I won't argue against it.
