What should Barca do next?
Thought I'd post here since its always good to hear as many opinions as possible.
Just to think of more realistic and practical things we can hope to see for next season, which will come around so fast this year lol, just hope we dont continue downhill and a suitable new manager comes in with some strong changes.
Ideally for me, there needs to be some players let go, unfortunately that doesnt seem to be very likely given the economic condition atm, but as we all agree, we just have too many players that are past it, too old, or just plain not good enough. So what to do? On the one hand, a lot of ppl keeping saying we should give young players more chance and develop them. I have always more objected this, but now I actually think it can be a good thing given the circumstances, since our senior players wont win us anything anyway.
We can introduce a lot more rotation, as long as we get CL qualitification and compete in games, just no need to aim for title for a couple of years. Give the young players more games to show who are worth developing and play them, while clearly out the others. At the same time, as the coronavirus goes away, and transfers get back to more normal, bring in the top stars to replace the old.
So essentially what I mean is just spend a couple of years rebuilding without focusing or forcing too much on the team to win trophies. This has to happen eventually and now is just the perfect time. Unless we find someone as good as Zidane for example who has been doing that WHILE winning, all I can see is this scenario. OTHERWISE, it will just be more of the same, another yes man manager with much changes, and the problems continue.
So what do u think?

Re: What should Barca do next?
barca fans hang tight .. this club, the fans needs to start looking the times ahead without messi ; not that messi is the problem but the longer he stays, players and club will depend on messi only for results
also Bartomeu needs to go as does eric abidal. dunno if Joan Laporta is thinking of re-applying for presidency but that would be a good news for barcelona.

Re: What should Barca do next?
pointless to introduce youth players, they are all garbage, there's maybe like 1 or 2 actually talented players in the B team if any
the most important thing to change is our transfer policy, this dire situation is a result of a shambolic attempt at a transition from the golden era, from poor manager choices to navigating the transfer market like a blind cockatoo, bending over to washed up legends of the club (club de amigos), being unable to say fuck off to bums like Pique and Busquets just because they've earned a certain status during Pep-era

Re: What should Barca do next?
it's pretty bad, yes. But that's the way it goes, the circle of life, you go through ups and downs in everything life related.
it's also pretty clear, that Barcelona needs a clear rebuild from top to bottom.
I think they should go young and with a mix of experience, but i don't think they'll get the immediate bounce back impact they'd wish for in the next 2-3 years to get Messi another CL. So this is probably prime opportunity for Messi to leave the club, but then for who? PSG or Man City?
Don't see that now anymore though, really thinks he wants to remain a one-club legend and not add another sidestory to his legacy.

Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. that was Barcelona's backbone and the key to their continued success for many years.
Good luck trying to find suitable replacement for them.

Sure it is but do you trust them to do any of that? I don't.
They've spent years resting on their laurels because they have a generational talent and think they can get away with it.
Partly they have but it was always going to eventually blow up in their faces.

Re: What should Barca do next?
I say we were at the same point (of assessment) just a year ago and yet now it looks like we just might (if our youth continue to develop) be one or two signings away!
What you need, besides a new board, is an inspirational coach, who can properly assess everyone in the squad, play players in their best position and tell the board who needs to go and what gaps need to be filled. And they need to stop signing anyone they think might be great without some thought as to where they fit into lineup.

it's not about that anyway. Xavi and Iniesta are generational midfielders, and Messi is an extraterrestrial.
They just need to focus on the squad for once, and rebuild with a plan in mind. "Positional play" like jibers said.
They're always going to be Barca and have a big pull for players.

I don't know, it's hard to say, I think it depends on the coach. If they hire a yes-man, then I can't see it. If Xavi gets hired, I know he'll make sure they sign one because he's been saying for ages how Barca has players to play on the inside, but no one on the outside.
Last year they tried bringing back Neymar. Even then though Neymar and Messi dynamic isn't the one from 2015. Neymar is a #10 now. He could probably still do the job on the left, but two ball hungry wingers never work out.
If they spent the 120M on Mane instead of Griezmann it would have saved them a lot of headaches. Now they're broke because of the pandemic and are relying on trying to get loans from Goldman Sachs LOL.

Same Koeman who opted to bench Mane so he could play long ball to Pelle and Long.

Re: What should Barca do next?
This was a long cycle for Barca, but it's come to an end.
What should they do next? Rebuild and prepare for the next cycle of talent. There's always someone in La Masia, waiting for their chance to emerge. What's worrying is the state of their board. That needs building just as much, if not more, than the on-field staff.

If Koeman comes now, he will be sacked by the new board next year anyway
Terrible, spineless choice.

Re: What should Barca do next?
The only way is for the socios to call for an early election. If Fartomeu stays he will accomplish his mission of burning the club down to the ground. Right now he's about 90% there.
Re: What should Barca do next?
The reports coming in are contradictory. Some sources say Messi says "either the board resigns or I leave" to put pressure on Bartomeu.
But others deny that he said anything, of course.
Di Marzio:
Setién, Abidal and Grau will be shown the door tomorrow. In addition, Bartomeu is expected to propose elections for this November

Minor point... but whoever approves the kits needs to get fired too. Not for the 2020 one; but for previous offenses.
