And if there is one thing that these Arsenal players need, its training. So it actually scares me.

It's an issue with his staff. He used to have Paul Clement as assistant manager, at Real, and then in his first half year at Bayern. Players seem to like his training a lot.
Clement left to take over some Championship club (still a bit puzzled why we let such an integral part of the staff leave midseason), Carlo then brought in his son, something like 28
years old, to be assistant manager. Also, the physio apparently used to smoke in the dressing room etc lmao.

BREAKING: #Arsenal chief and contract negotiator leave Mikel Arteta's house in Manchester at 1am after talks over becoming new boss. #AFC https://t.co/n1sEMbSe3L

Since Fahmy was there as well, I‘m guessing this is pretty advanced.

Also, it would be gutsy of him to join after having a front row seat to the horror show a few hours before

Not a hard decision imo. As bad as we are, this will be biggest club he will manage in his career.

If people want to look at successful young managers with no previous managerial experience, look at Nagelsmann. Was assistant manager and youth coach at 1899, then took over the main team, taking them from relegation fodder to 7th place. Let's have some faith as well.

2 things
1. It's always good to have one successful example to which to point when surely there's like 25000 examples where it didn't work out.
2. Also, Hoffenheim, at the time of Nagelsmann appointment, was hovering around relegation in Bundesliga so the scope, pressure and expectation of the jobs could hardly be more different.

Still, I have a good feeling, I'm very looking forward to see what Arteta can do, and I'm really rooting for it to work out.

Arteta is expected to be announced tomorrow, though there are some lingering reports of compensation still to be agreed with City. Either way, he won't be in charge for Everton game. His first game will be Bournemouth away on Boxing Day. Then it's Chelsea and United at home back-to-back.

I don't know what to expect because I don't know him. Being a good coach is one thing, but having to manage an entire squad and having the pressure of getting results on your shoulders is a whole other beast, and he's stepping into an unforgiving environment where the first loss will be greeted with boos. It's a very tough first job. I just have to hope it doesn't go the way of Henry at Monaco.

The toughest part for Arteta would be to identify players who are committed to win/club. It would be incredibly difficult to drop big names who are not 100% focused. Us fans will have a go after him if he plays Martinelli ahead of Auba or Willock ahead of Ozil and if he plays Auba and Ozil who dont give a shit on the pitch, us fans will go after Arteta for not getting results (or not playing the system that suits Auba and Ozil).

Secondly our defence even if 100% focused is 99% shit and getting into the market with these owners is a big problem.

Lastly our midfield needs sorting and balance (either by change in personnel or system or better coaching). Until the midfield cover the defenders and link them with our attack line (which is not happening for quiet some time) the only direction we are going to go is DOWN

All in all its a great mess, but in football a string of good results can change the outlook of the a team completely. I hope we can get a few consecutive wins so the fans and players can start to get confidence back in themselves and the club.
