UCL Ro16 2021/22 | Inter vs Liverpool

Absolute cracking European tie, extremely surprising Klopp did not play a holder alongside Fab and Thiago and that led us to not control. Did not expect this result especially after the first 20 mins of the second half where Inter were all over us. I think the ref was also quite bad, he gave Liverpool fouls more easily than Inter but that said our squad depth pulled us through. Klopp with maniac subs like usual, can't read that dude's mind.

Fabinho proving why he is the best in the world every game and hope Jota isn't out for too long.

Also I don't know about Inter and their squad but they did not react to Liverpool's subs, we made 3 changes, 2 midfielders including taking Motm Fabinho off to counter Inter's style at the 60' and Inter did not react until the 89th

Not happy with the performance by us. Cowboy stuff by Klopp but Inter created a lot of holes in our defence and if not for some horrid finishing it really could have gone the other way given their very notable performance but being clinical was the obvious difference and we should easily make this one through.


Inter under Inzaghi are arguably more dangerous than Conte's safe one especially given the absence of Lukaku and Hakimi.

Dzeko is miles better as an overall player than Lukaku but is past his scoring prime.


Speaking of, I have to be the biggest Dzeko fan here and have been for a near decade but I'll be the first to tell you he isnt a natural and clinical finisher. He mostly creates goals out of nowhere and has a ridiculous total goal tally but doesn't have that instinct given he seems to focus on a lot of other facets in the box so that must be noted.

Inzaghi was always tactically astute but has clearly evolved in Inter.

In Lazio in such big ties he always was shown to be too safe and rather timid in big moments but has developed a new courage that has gained my respect as some managers need that big jump to unlock their potential and it is obvious to see here. Theres a reason why Inter fans dont miss Conte as much as they thought they would.

Arqy, that's exactly I said pre match Robes, Dzeko can be 75 and I will still think he would put one behind us. Prime Dzeko would have buried a couple of chances tonight especially the one where he was beyond VVD after that worldy of a touch.

I'd say Dzeko has aged like fine wine if Zlatan didn't abuse that term all too much but he hasn't quite lost much in his game bar some pace, dexterity and his goalscoring frequency, for players like him dont rely on their physical traits.

Given his deft playmaking along with how complete he is I doubt he will drastically fall anytime soon. Ultimate big game scorer.

Great to see Dezko still at it, think he did ok at MAn C but just not a Pep style player Inter played well but they still lacked something n Liverpool eventually got the goals, basically killing the tie...

Clearly better than Lukaku. Been hoping that Juve get Dzeko since the Wolfsburg days

Love him as a player. Makes everyone around play better, the combination of physicality with a great touch makes him great to watch. Seen him live in a match in Rome too and he is one of those players that looks even better in the stadium.

Remember Barca fans here mocking having Dzeko as the striker in the CL quarters before he sent them home in the QF. He is old though, so he can't really do as much anymore.

Point is about Dzeko as a whole through his career to which Lukaku never touched in his height nor will he let alone close to.


The commentary is more about him as a whole whereas Lukaku is basically just a scorer of goals compared to Edin who adds much more.

Dzeko being 35 this season has more goals than Lucucku as it is who spends his time giving seductive gazes of allure to Inter

Not today, he is 35 and well past his prime, but in his career and the player he was. Still today he is much more complete though, just old.

That's literally the ability of a top CB. Creating a situation where the attacker is hesitant in 1 vs 1 situation.
