There is still 32 teams and Iran is always qualified if i remember correctly. I am sad to miss this goal galore because yesterday's match was not very good football.

Ingland predictably beat Iran. The game was rather one-sided. I had bratwurst with beer. We’re one step closer to home.

Didn't even know Weah had a son, was a footballer, or that he represented the US (kinda random, although he was born there)

Wales have done nothing all match and deserve to lose, the group's looking more clear than expected

Now England plays USA next, and if they win they'll have no pressure to beat Wales.

Undeserved for sure. Although from what I've seen there's no guarantee that Wales would beat Iran

USA quality of play is so frustrating. Do everything right until the final decision/pass/shot

FWIW after the goal Wales played a lot better and the US left some dangerous gaps in their defense. Could've easily been a loss for them after that point.

Would've been a robbery if Wales came away from this game with a draw. Iran completely and utterly dominated them from start to finish. Wales were never in it

The Iran I expected, their first match was so disappointing.

On a serious note, I wonder what would happen if some of  these countries shifted their focus from buying up foreign sports teams and spending billions to host international tournaments to funding and developing sports in their own countries. Seems like a more effective and less insidious form of "sports washing".

A single football win gave  Saudi Arabia the most positive international coverage I've ever witnessed in my lifetime Qatar on the other hand are getting dragged, mocked, and vilified after a $220 BILLION investment that is currently doing more harm than good to their image.

Only around 10B of that went into stadiums (amazing how cheaply you can build things on slave labor!). The rest is going into infrastructure projects like the ports ,airport, subway and an entire new city.

But yeah, given all the (deserved) negative press its doubtful these projects will turn them into a tourist superpower
