Why the hate?

Why is there so much hate for Barcelona?

I don't want to flame anything. I'm simply curious. I agree that diving is not part of the beautiful way football should be played, just as much as violent football isn't, but don't you agree the play Barcelona has played under the Pep era has been beautiful and even previously during the time of Ronaldinho? Has any club maintained such a fixed and attractive philosophy?

So basically is it Xavi's comments? I could dig up questionable comments from loads of other players. Is the clubs image dependent on the players personalities or on the pitch?

When Italy won the wc they were hated.
When Spain won, they were.
When Inter won cl, they were.
You get how it goes?
I only hate how people want to play like Barca and say theres no doubt barca is the best team and no one can beat them, I say Inter 3 - 1 Barca.

People also dislike divers on Barca.

Success breeds jealousy. Also the fact that we probably won against their team, and might have dived once or twice against them, turning them against us. Bust mostly jealously that we're better and more successful.

Guardiola and puyol i have the highest respect for. The rest are meh. Alves, Busquets, Pedro and xavi can go to hell tbh.

Remember the previous summer when every week a new Xavi quote would show up?
And yet, when they asked Xavi why he said those things a few months ago he replied that he barely spoke during that summer

And yet they say Xavi can't shut up, when some newspapers are making thousands of pounds at his expense.

I encourage you to think independently about what Xavi, Pique, Puyol and them really did say and what they didn't. Chances are, they're not giving exclusive interviews to the like of the daily mail.

I dont know, It must be a cultural thing. Political correctness is a must when you represent an organization/ city like Barcelona. Majority of the people in here hate your football club because of the things your players come out and say. As paid professionals (ludicrous unjustified amount), you are expected to act and behave a certain way. What you say will directly effect/ hurt/ harm shitload of things around you. This is what Xavi and co do not understand. And that is the reason why i personally dislike the guy.

It is sad because i can bet you most people hate Barca but love their football

In my opinion, why other hate Barcelona:

Chelsea - I'm guessing cause of the 2009 semi final controversial. That year, I really believed they were going to win the champion league.

Arsenal -
Fabregas saga, Xavi's comments
The van persie red card incident didn't help either. I was only a lurker in the old forum but if I recall correctly, Arsenal fan created threads that the red card wasn't deserve (debatable). Barcelona responded to these threads with reply such as "cry more please", "you mad?" and etc..

Inter -
Barcelona fans claiming that they were rob and should have won. How they robbed penalties and disallowed goal. How Barcelona should have 3 champion league in a row. How Inter played all defensively. How Inter got lucky. The sprinkler, arresting eto'o and fan firework in front inter hotel before/after the 2nd leg could have influence it too.

My biggest issue is with the fans and the media. They potray Barca as if they have never lost before and never will. They want to ram an idiology down everybody's throat. If you play defensive you are the worst piece of (blank) there is to them. They only look at one stat, possesion, its like there are no more stats. You can have 80% possesion and play badly just like you can have 20% possesion but yet have the most shots on goals and score the most goals.

There are other ways of playing football and I hate how people crap on teams that play against Barca because they are "defensive." If Barca loses all you hear(at least the media I watch) "Football has lost today."

The other is the refs and the advantages Barca gets but am not gonna get into that as I am sure we'll have a couple of chances to dicuss this when the season starts.

The other day the coach of Peru the Uruguayan Markarian came out blazing against the media because of the same. Basiclly stating(towards the Chile coach) that how he can't be offensive with the players he has and that he is tired branding people with "this guy is good because he's offensive and this guy is bad because he's defensive."

When I watch Barca I apreciate the way they play and would love for my team to play like that but I know there are other "systems" that are equally as effective and enjoyable to watch so its not the end of the world as some potray it to be.
