yeah i posted this last week,hes been quite meh recently

lets wait for more games to judge though

He hasn't taken his game to the next level like everyone expected.

Still very good, but I don't know if his limited physical tools will allow for him to ever become a bona fide superstar.

He is so classy. Great touch and vision.

But limited physical attributes will always bring him down.

I think the WC inflated his potential a lot.

People need to remember that the WC is a very small amount of games...

The whole Bayern team hasn't be playing up to expectation...

Mueller is also being played out of position. He's usually in the hole behind Gomez, but can perform decently on the right wing where he plays in the NT.

Now on the left, that's somewhere he plays to plug in holes from injuries, not anywhere near his natural position.

He is alright, needs to get going in 2-3 more matches and be played behind Gomez or on the right

He doesnt have Robben or Ozil sending him tap-ins anymore???

Mueller didn't have an average season. It was pretty good actually, but it was nowhere near the likes of Goetze and other German youngsters. He did well, had several good performances, gave a couple of assists..

If you want to be taken seriously it would probably be best to avoid calling a player who's game and playing style are based around intelligence "dumb."

by what he's seen of muller i suppose hes making that statement from, he just hasn't been impressed...

question: is everyone expecting him to be a world class beater or..? what do people truly expect from muller? honestly? those who have seen him well, seen what he can offer and have an idea of how he will progress...

it's really goin down the hill with him..

But it's better for him to stay under the radar like Klose for most of his career and just do his work quietly. He does bring a lot of unapparent quality to the table, as most people wanna see people like oezil as CAM/SS and robben or ronaldo as wingers.

People who know a thing or two about football should be able to see his worth though. Further he has shown that he can play football consistently on a high level - while having a few bad games inbetween, but nothing serious. That's great for a 20/21 year old, who is playing for a big club where there is big pressure.

Schweinsteiger had a rather bad season after his breakthrough as a CM under vG and an impressive world cup, but the same can never be said about Mueller who carried Bayern through the hard times as one of their better players, linked up great with ribery/robben/gomez and scored goals against big opponents.

He's also barely 22 years old... talk about unrealistic expectations.

i guessed we all agree post world cup 2010 there were a lot of hype around german young players and Thomas Mueller was the one that being hyped the most
with the hype he got what he has done so far is dissapointing
i saw no improvement of him ever since the world cup, not only he wasn't improved but he was also looked worse both in Bayern & NT
we expect youngster at 21 to improve instead of regress or decline, no?
i hope that will change this season
but so far i don't like what i saw from him at the start of this season
i'll visit this thread again after some more games from him

first of all, no oezil was hyped the most. secondly his stats have improved while his team has played utter bs last season - no idea how that is a sign of decline, it's quite the opposite.

read my previous post or check out transfermarkt.de yourself. even uli hoeness said that he should get the praise he deserves for stepping up in such a bad season for the club. this season have only been three games and he hasn't been used on his position - great indicator.

Nope.
Actually he looked tired as first, as did almost all of the Bayern squad, but once he recovered he was actually one of their most consistent performers, and basically saved their asses, together with Gomez. He had like 30ish scorer points. That's a lot for a forward that is mostly expected to feed the other forwards.

That's kinda true, but a slow start to a season isn't really a decline.

Müller has never been really flashy (except for that goal vs Roma).
I mean, even most German and Bayern fans were surprised by his WC exploits.


People should not overrate that tournament. He plays in a different position
for Bayern.

People also shouldn't underrate him last season, he was pretty good, actually, especially considering his teams half-collapse.
