It's not like it was forced upon to line up like that.

It was a tactical decision by Ferguson...it's not like those players were injured, etc. they could have all played.

nani played 2 full games for Portugal, Cleverley still not fit....Vidic hadn't played for us in over a month, not ready for this kinda game....and fergie said he wasn't playing rooney because he didn't want him to get frustrated and coaxed into fouls by liverpool because of what happened with england....i don't agree with it but it was his reasoning.

so outta all the guys who coulda played it was Rooney and anderson

Unless you're stupid you will realise that the definition of 1st choice player is the player the manager is willing to start.

Don't ask me why he didn't start them...........but clearly he didn't consider them 1st choce players for this encounter.

Agger is arguably one of the best defenders bringing the ball out of defence and creating chances?
And Johnson would of killed you guys. Kelly had a minor injury so couldn't do his penetrating runs. Evra was horrible today, and Giggs only made one run the whole game... his pass went out for a goal kick. You basically had no left hand side.

Honest question though.

Why was Rooney playing centre mid today? I mean, you had the best CM in the world in Cleverley on the bench and Anderson was also looking on.

@sepi, I gave reasons as to why I think SAF rested Nani, Chich and Rooney. a) they just played international games or, rooney's case, controversy surrounded him and that is not a good combo mixed with the Anfield crowd...we all saw even a vetaran like Evra was getting wound up by the LFC fans.

b) we were saving them for the Oteleul game and wanted to introduce them after against tiring LFC legs...which seemed to work as they give us a much needed boost in LFC's final 3rd.

Rooney played CM because Cleverley wasn't fit yet, and he is more of offensive threat then anderson...rather then bringing off welbeck or playing him outta position you put rooney in a player with more versatility and play him as a CM, bringing rooney on as a sub is never gonna hurt a teams chance of scoring, he gives defenders something to worry about

Leaving all those nonsense aside i think its a decent result for both sides tbh.Both of us would have delightedly taken a point before the start of the match.Its one of those matches not losing losing is more important than winning regardless of the chances we created.

From Liverpool prespective this draw nicely sets us for next 4-5 games all of which we should win comfortably.That would us in a comfortable position for the 4th even if its only oct-nov.

Performance wise Gerrard's return Henderson's performance at AM and Adam's return to form were pretty good signs.I suppose United fans would be delighted with De Gea's performance.

Also thought both Young and Downing were pretty poor.

I didnt watch 1st half my appraisal may not be accurate.

It's great to talk sensibly now that our emotions have calmed down.

1st half was boring, 2nd half was a great game of football. In fairness, DDG saved us from defeat at times. i think DDG deserves praise for today's performance. he has been getting so much shet from the media but I think today he shutted them up.
