This was a slow and tedious match. Romania successfully parked a double-decker bus and a bad defensive mess-up of the Swiss team caused the Romanian goal. Switzerland never appeared to want to win and they dragged themselves rather slowly over the pitch. Yann Sommer had quite a good debut, but he will be annoyed that he allowed that goal.

Holland win 2-0. 1st goal was an own goal. 2nd Goal was a Van Der Vaart goal. In general a boring match. RVP was invisible as usual. Robben had an average 45 minutes first but then he was going past men on the flank with ease.

Van Der Vaart had a brilliant Free Kick hitting the bar with the GK nowhere in sight. Would have been a spectacular sight. VDV outshined Sneijder at CAM. Sneijder had to pull off after injury.

Afellay played the usual with his head down ignoring half a dozen or more runs. Only player he was willing to pass was RVP,he was good in general apart from that.

Average performance from defense & defensive mid-field. Steke was very alert. Very dissapointed at not seeing Strootman.

Hope Huntelaar starts the next match

So, tonight (20:30 CEST) Germany will test against Israel in Leipzig/Germany. It is possible that Bastian Schweinsteiger won't start as he is still suffering from a knock he got at the beginning of the Chelsea match. (They said he got that knock in the 5th minute of the CL final and played to the full 120 minutes with it, thus worsening the situation. He still has a haematoma in the calf muscle and thus hasn't been able to train with the squad yet).

Thank god we have Kroos to play for Schweinsteiger, but this is still immensely worrying ahead of the Euros... :/

If Low plays sensibley with a 4-2-3-1,no reason for Germany not to win comfortably. All his experiments have flopped. Stick to that conventional tried & tested working winning formula man.

Hope to see Reus playing at LW/RW of CF. Reus should start for Germany's sake & hopefully Goetze is tried at RW too see if he can work there well.

I don't think he's direct enough on the wings for Löws taste, though I agree in that I would like to see it tried, Götze and Reus both add a kind of threat to our game other players don't. Reus because he is an incredible finisher and goal threat, and Götze because he creates Özil-like havoc when he runs at the defence with the ball at his feet...

Try him at CF then. Give him a chance there. Klose is probably past his best & Gomez is Gomez technically.

I think Gomez can be great when counter-attacking, but you can't always counter if you're always the favorite -.-

Would like to see Reus tried as CF as well, since Löw seems to think he can play well there, Klose is still my chosen #1 until he proves otherwise, he has always delivered in tournaments. Götze can rotate with any of Podolski or Müller in the meantime, but if Reus really works at CF (btw I still want to see Müller there once), it'd solve a shitload of problems for our NT.

Lampard has been ruled out of the Euros.

I know it's extremely selfish of me but I'm kinda glad he won't be playing.

Gerrard will finally be exposed for the fraud he is after 10+ years of masquerading himself as a CM. No Lampard to blame this time around.

And Lampard will get a full summers rest ahead of next season.

Just a shame this is probably Lamps' last International tournament but it wasn't like England were going to get out of their group anyway.

EDIT: Jordan Henderson is his replacement. Laughing
