Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Monaco record:
7 Ligue 1 titles
5 French cup titles
1 time CL finalist
2 time CL semi finalist
1 time UEFA cup finalist and 1 time semi finalist
1 time cup winner's cup finalist
Also finished second in Ligue 1 5 times and reached the final of the French cup an additional 5.
They are considered the third most successful team in french history after OM and St Etienne. Lyon is 4th.
Chelsea? check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_F.C. They had close to nothing before Abra. I don't think even 5 major titles. I see 2 FA and 1 EPL. That's it.

Your ignorance was shown up when you claimed Chelsea and Man City had less than 5 titles each.
No one cares about runners up or semi finals, Monaco's success in Europe is non-existent and you cannot ignore Chelsea and Man City's CWC success then use Monaco's runner-up place as an achievement and expect to be taken seriously.
PSG, Monaco, Chelsea and Man City were mediocre clubs before reaping the benefit of wealthy benefactors. Your biased view favouring the French clubs and promoting semi finals "achievements" and other trivial inane nonsense over the English clubs actual success makes your argument look pathetic.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
ok dude. I guess math isn't your thing
Chelsea and City did have less than 5 titles each before the current ownership. Just look it up ffs. I gave you the Chelsea wiki page to help.
Anything before 1950 is pretty much amateur footy btw. Let's keep it in the last 50 years or so City had a FA and EPL in the 60s and the UEFA cup winner's cup in 1970. That's the extent of their modern footy record.
I don't really rate the Cup Winner's Cup, that is now defunct, as a major trophy... but that's your call.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
And football knowledge isn't yours.
Chelsea:
1 League title
3 FA Cups
2 League Cups
2 CWC
Man City:
2 League titles
4 FA Cups
2 League Cups
1 CWC
Now even with my A-Level Maths knowledge I know 8 and 9 aren't less than 5.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
dude... you are seriously counting league cup and community shield? I mean seriously? There's a "sisters of mercy" cup out there too.
Only FA, EPL, CL, Europa and UEFA Cup (now Europa) are major. Even CWC is a mickey mouse trophy.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Where have I included the Community Shield victories?
If the CWC is a Mickey Mouse trophy why do you consider AS Monaco's final appearance as an achievement?
You're picking and choosing bits you consider important only because they suit your argument. You've shown an incredible degree of ignorance here and a lack of footballing knowledge.
It's clear you have a partisan view and cannot debate with an unbiased outlook.
Your argument has been well and truly obliterated son!

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
sorry, i copy and pasted on AS Monaco. You can take out CWC final... everyone played their junior squad until the semis of that thing anyhow. I was around to watch them and it was horrid.
Same with Community Shield and League Cup. Nobody plays their top side until probably the finals, if that
That's why i don't count the secondary cups in france either because monaco and psg won a few of those too like the "Coupe de la Ligue" and "Trophee des Champions".
Trophies that you win with your bench players aren't real trophies to me. Call me particular.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
There was a time when the League Cup in England was given a lot more respect than it has been in recent years.
I'm not sure why you keep banging on about the community shield as it hasn't been mentioned as a success by me, it's as irrelevant as you mentioning the finals and semi-finals Monaco have played in.
The fact is this: you're discrediting Man City and Chelsea and claiming they're undeserving of being bankrolled because of their modest success throughout their history, yet you seem to think both PSG and AS Monaco have more of a right and credible claim despite both being equally unimpressive when it comes to prestige and achievement.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
PSG and Monaco were far, far better teams in modern footy than City and Chelsea... not even close. Their record speaks for themselves.
You have to go waaaay bay into the 60s and before for at least a couple of the City and Chelsea trophies. All the success for PSG and Monaco has happened since the 80s.

So by your logic Madrids first European cups are irrelevant. Sports come on dude....

They don't, but sportsczy seems to think so. He's concocted a rather silly argument as to why the French clubs are more deserving, suggesting both Man City and Chelsea were bankrolled from nothing to where they are now.

All I know is if I was a striker, i'd probably kill myself after a few games fighting for whatever leftovers Ronaldo and Bale seen fit to leave me.

If we play the current 4-3-2-1 then they should the only 2 forwards playing.
--------Isco---Illarramendi/Khedira---Modric
-------------Ozil---------------Bale
--------------------Ronaldo

That would have to mean Isco/Ozil is benched, which shouldn't really happen. That's why hopefully we don't sign Bale.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
It is a conundrum.
But out of the 3, it'd have to be Isco who is benched at least until he can justify a starting spot over Mesut.
I just can't see Karim getting benched. And if he knew that was the plan then i'm sure he'd be desperate to leave himself. Imagine having your only competition sold and then told that you were going to be riding the bench with Ronaldo in your spot

No one cares about second place/runner-up and semi finals, it's irrelevant so I don't need to add it. You only do because you've convinced yourself it validates your daft argument. It doesn't.
