Why should he have to wait his turn? He would rather start on a team that will challenge rather than sit on the bench while an inferior player starts over him. He felt disrespected so he chose Spain. Whether you think it's right or wrong that's up to you. I'm just tired of hearing people say it's glory hunting when Brazil have a better chance of winning it than Spain.

It is gloryhunting when you change your nationality in 7 months for a starting spot (which isnt even guaranteed considering VDB's cesc false 9 fetish).Diego doesnt feel Spanish at all, he just wants to participate in the WC.

Maybe because he's Brasilian and this isn't club football? And maybe because he's only been in great form for about three months?

He didn't get called up for some friendlies about a month and half after his great start and we're supposed to feel bad for him?

I don't know if he's gloryhunting but I think he is being a petulant ass. Especially considering he got called up to a couple of friendlies in March when no one (in here, in real life, even his family) thought he deserved a chance with the national team.

Not going to happen. You've already used up your luck in the Confeds Cup. Now it's impossible that Spain will get stunned twice in a row by the same team.
luck in a 3-0 victory Laughing

spain are so meh atm, any SA team bar Equador and Uruguay will eliminate you lot in the WC.
I'm not Spanish, mate. I'm just bandwaggoning them as long as Spain = Barca. Proud

You also misinterpreted me. I didn't mean that the 3-0 victory itself was lucky. It was well deserved. What I'm trying to say is that in a serious World Cup game the Spanish players will be a lot better prepared for Brazil's tactics and more motivated. Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me. Etc. For starters they will be physically prepared and not play on tired legs as they did last time around. When it matters, del Bosque is also not going to start scrubs like Torres and Mata, an unfit Casillas who hasn't played for months and certainly not a single pivot. A fresher Spain team with Busquets and Alonso in the middle is suddenly a completely different animal to break down. And yes, even when Spain were garbage, you still had to rely on a goal line clearance and a missed penalty to make it such a convincing result at the end.

Spain are meh at the moment because they haven't played a full strength team or a serious game for a while now. Spain have long reached a stage where they can't motivate themselves anymore to trash some scrub teams in mid November friendlies on the other side of the planet unlike Brazil who are enjoying their Harlem Globetrotters tour before the World Cup. They are a tournament team now. A squad that consists of Busquets, Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Silva, Martinez, Thiago, Isco, Koke, Villa, Diego Costa etc. is not going to get trashed by anyone when it matters. Costa is actually THE missing piece. Spain's strikeforce had declined and that's not an issue anymore. Proud

How many people here have actually regularly watched Fred play to claim that Diego Costa is better than him? Most people have only recently seen him in the Confederations Cup, and based on that I doubt that Diego Costa would've been a very significant improvement.

I've seen him play for Lyon a while back, didn't impress me. Limited striker, with good strength and poacher qualities. I doubt he developed his skills that much from his Lyon days if he is still playing in Brazil.

Better at what exactly? Finishing? He is most definitely not. So what Fred is there to finish. Costa is not as an effective finisher, that's the truth.

He's not the complete forward Costa is but he does his job for Brazil with ruthless efficiency.

This bar the top ten striker bit I was being deadly serious. he has better hold up play and can brink runners in and is a far more ruthless finisher than Costa. He is also stronger and better in the air. Costa might be more dynamic (just about) but Fred does the job. I know according to some people, Fred should not be starting because he has limited abilities Rolling Eyes

Lukaku, Giroud and Soldado are donkeys, Costa is alot better than you're giving him credit for. Until this season he was extremely underrated both physically and technically.

He's not particularly elite at anything but he does everything at an above average level you'd want from a forward except he has insane stamina levels to go along with it.

Dribbling, ambidexterity, finishing, running the channels, playing back to goal, build up play, heading, workrate, creating, strength, mental strength, aggression etc. He's got the lot.
