Re: Diego Costa
I was telling to my Chelsea-supporting friend that Costa has less than 10 national games under his belt and one great season at the age of 25(?). Not a guaranteed hit by any means - but then again can't be worse than Chelsea's current strikers.
But let's put it this way that won't be choosing him for my PL fantasy team (maybe).

I wonder if i'm still a pleb and a hipster for not falling in line with everyone else for wanking over him due to his goal record.
Always said he would scrub it up for Spain, but nah hipster Mole they said.

Judge a striker on 4 games brahs. Concede 7 goals in 2 games. Blame the striker.

Re: Diego Costa
i can accept if his stat in this world cup was like:
4-5 touches in the box, 2-3 shots on target, 0 goal
but his stat now read:
10 touches in the box, ZERO SHOT ON TARGET, 0 goal
come on, is this type of player that we going to recognize as star player?

Re: Diego Costa
Diego Bosta.
I wasn't surprised that he didn't fit in with the Spanish style but he coudn't even score when Iniesta put his ass clear through on goal.

He's playing for one of the worst NT's in the World Cup, I'm feeling sorry for him but then he's also a scumbag so I'm not really.

Horribly overrated player. Too limited and one-dimensional.

Let's not lose our heads. Spain still have one of the deepest, most talented squads in the entire world, you can blame Costa's performances on the tactical set up around him but not on the talent of those surrounding him.

Counter attacking type player flops in a possession type style so he's a scrub?
Same sort of people will be calling him a GOAT after he benefits from a team that suits him this coming season...

I feel he would have complemented brasil's squad so much better. He did biff a few chances, but Spain's shortcoming wasn't him, he will most probably thrive at Chelsea.

except chelsea won't be playing counter attacks against crystal palace and west brom... you can get away with shit on a stick if the other opponent actually has an intention of keeping the ball, not when they're playing style is the exact same as yours but with substantially worse players
secondly, there's flopping and then there's whatever the hell costa was doing this tournament... blaming zero shots on goal in two games on being a "counter attacking player in a possession system" is a joke

He had not play with another NT. Betraying His country.
Got kncoked out at group stage, in His country , worst Spanish result in WC since 1998.
This is what the Ancient Greek called ὕβϱις .

Firstly, I never said he had a good/decent world cup; he was horrid but SO WAS THE REST OF THE TEAM. Why is Diego Costa the only "scrub" out there? Why is he (and Iker) getting ALL the blame? Again, I'm not defending them, they WERE bad but the only decent player for Spain this tournament from what I saw was Iniesta, the whole team was a joke. Why is the rest of the team not "scrubs"?
And I don't want to defend Costa, but there's a huge difference between the world cup and the premier league. He'll also ADJUST to Chelsea. Something he's never had the chance to do with the Spanish national squad.
He's played what, 2 friendlies or something low ridiculous like that leading up the world cup? What were people expecting ffs. The only player that's lead the line decent for Spain was David Villa, and Villa was playing with the same group of players for a good 5-6 years. He was also not that (italic that, I'm on my phone and I don't know how to do it on here) great in consideration to his ability/form at club level. No real striker benefits from this style of play, unless you're Lionel Messi and you're TIERS above the group. Yeah they won the world cup 2010 without Messi blah blah, but that was because the core of the team was that fkin good they just couldn't lose. Iirc, they won pretty much every game 1-0 that year too; they were dominant but they've always lacked that firepower in the final third. Diego Costa (who DOES play a different style of play) wasn't going to fix that.
In regards to Chelsea, I sincerely hope he does flop, but he'll have Mourinho as a guide. Chelsea aren't going to slow down the tempo either; they'll attack with pace when the opportunity presents it self. Something which is easy to do in the premier league as it's easy to find space. There was nothing really benefiting him in the Spain NT at all, really.

Re: Diego Costa
Are we still going with the 'system' excuses?
Systems can help or hinder a player, but a 'system' is not a magical energy that flows through players, stopping them from getting shots on target and holding on to the ball. He was shite, he was never going to be at his best with the Spanish NT but he, himself was a joke.

Re: Diego Costa
If you want to use the system excuse then "the system" is arguably the reason he's going to Chelsea in the first place
It works both ways, you can't blame the system for his failure to perform and then ignore that the system was the reason he got success at Atleti in the first place.
