Played very good today. Hes been flip flopping from very good peformances, to decent, to bad, to shocking, and back to very good. Sooner or later he will find consistency

Re: Wilshere has been found out
Paul Scholes says that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has not progressed as a player since he made his debut in 2008.
The former Manchester United midfielder appeared as a pundit on Sky Sports on Tuesday night and spoke openly about the troubles facing Arsene Wenger's side, whom he says are "a million miles away" from winning the Premier League title.
"Jack Wilshere, he came on the scene and what a really top young player he looked but he's never really gone on," Scholes remarked. "Now he needs people like [Patrick] Vieira next to him to take him to the next level.
"Injuries haven't helped him, no, but his development from being 17 years of age ... he doesn't look any better a player now than he did when he was 17."

Thank God he's not a regular pundit. I'd have to boycott football if I had to see him regularly, wearing a cheap Asda suit and spouting his bullshit

except that he wasnt spouting bullshit. He was saying loud and clear what everything thinks of arsenal. i understand how it can sound crude and irritating coming from him

Re: Wilshere has been found out
Ok first off, Arsenal aren't "a million miles away" from winning the league. Wrexham are a million miles away. Notts County are a million miles away. Arsenal? About 7-8 points
Second, he's implying that Wilshere's lack of progress is down to something OTHER than injuries. Bull. Since 2008 until now, had Wilshere remained injury free, he'd be one of the best midfielders in the PL. It's down solely to injuries, so I don't know why ginger nuts is saying otherwise.
I'd love to know what Scholes thinks of Hargreaves, who had the latter half of his career ruined by injuries

Considering Scholes seems to quote on quote have nothing else to do bar dropping his kids to school in the morning and polka dancing up and off his chair on his 5th return from retirement, I wouldn't take much heed of his vacant words.

Wilshere is a bit overrated. There are better young English midfielders out there.

Re: Wilshere has been found out
Wilshere hasn't added enough substance to his game, but he has still got time and a promising sign for him and Arsenal is that he has probably shown glimpses of improvement this season more than previously, e.g. scoring three PL goals this season while he had not managed more than one in any other season. So perhaps that substance is coming. Needs to stay fit, though.

Re: Wilshere has been found out
Frankly, Scholes is right on Wilshere.
It is a fact that Wilshere did not develop much from his his admittedly very good debut. Whether this is entirely due to injuries (which Arsenal shares a lot of the blame here due to their huge injury list) or the lack of a role model in the Arsenal midfield is anyone's guess.
Also, you might as well be "a million miles" away from winning the PL as a few steps away. Both mean the same thing; Arsenal "cannot" win the league, which if anything have been soundly proved by Arsenal's shambolic showing against the three teams on top of them and United (seriously, not beating this united is as well an admittance of incompetence). For all intents and purposes, this was Arsenal's "year". Next year, both City and Chelsea will be stronger and more well poised than they were this year. Also, Liverpool might be in a better shape with CL investment.
Finally, I am sure Scholes, who has been one of the best midfielders in the PL is qualified to speak his mind on the development of a fellow midfielder. I don't understand why Arsenal fans go on the ubber defensive whenever their lackluster players get criticized. You would imagine if those players did not deserve criticism that you would not be conceding 6 goals from Chelsea and 5 from Liverpool.

Re: Wilshere has been found out
I don't think its down to solely injuries tbh.... its a factor but its not the sole factor.
He hasn't matured mentally, which is something i constantly mention when talking about Wilshere.
I said a year ago that his decision making and movement hasn't improved and quite frankly it still hasn't.
I believe in him but Scholes is right.

english is not my first language, like scholes, but i am pretty sure that was an hyperbole. you guys are contending for the title as much as spurs are contending for the top 4.
what he meant by wilshere is that he hasnt developed as a leader, being a midfielder, i think he is disappointed that Wilshere is not coming through as the guy leading arsenal. Not sure by which extent that comment is true tho, injuries have certainly not helped him...

Re: Wilshere has been found out
Wilshere is definitely a natural leader, but it's difficult when you can't play ten games in a row. His game hasn't progressed much either, but again, how can it?
Tactically? I suppose. He has issues there, but that seems like nitpicking to me.

My opinion is if Wenger cant improve Arsenal or bring anything new to the players, obviously including Wilshere, probably if he leaves then its better for Wilshere's development.

I think the problem is that it's hard to differentiate between the two when Wilshere came on and was so effective at a young age. What people don't realize is that there is so much more to just being good at a young age meaning you are going to be amazing afterwards. Development is not linear. People see things like what is happening with Henderson for example and assume that if a young talent isn't progressing it's due to the manager, but there is just many different layers: role, talent, managers, tactics, training staff, supporting cast etc.
Wilshere has never really struck me as an exceptional talent though. Hard worker and passionate, but nothing really exceptional about his game.

Nick is like Dante, excellent english but a bit lazy in typing proper punctuation. You should read his French, Lex. Immaculate.
Red? He's taught me a great value of knowledge in general, let alone English.

Could injuries have resulted because of too much pressure put on him to play? Otherwise why is he injured all the time (like all arsenal players it seems like).
