Marotta: 'Juve sell two strikers'

Beppe Marotta confirmed Juventus “are in the phase of removing excess players,” including two strikers.

The Bianconeri are in America where they lost 3-1 to LA Galaxy in last night’s Guinness International Champions Cup game.

“I will not name names, but at this moment we have six strikers. We need to be left with four,” director general Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are in the phase of removing excess players from the squad.”

With the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, it was always likely that players such as Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella would be pushed down the pecking order.

Both players have been linked with Premier League moves to Everton, West Ham and Norwich.

However, Mirko Vucinic is by no means safe either, as he is of interest to Manchester United.

Marotta was also asked about the reports Reto Ziegler will move to rivals Torino. “Maybe.”

If both Matri and Quags are sold,we'll sign one more attacker,probably a winger who would give us tactical flexibility,you know, the option to play 4-3-3 from time to time as well.

Marotta said 4 strikers that's it Surag so I can't see us reinvesting in anyone. Problem is I think we need a 5th striker. It's always good to have cover and keeping one of Quag/Matri is key.

And also I think Matti is leaving just based in the look he had on his face when he scored his goal. Probably his last run out for Juve.

Get rid of Quagliarella, Matri, Peluso, Motta, Ziegler, Martinez, Iaquinta, Rubinho, either Padoin or Rossi, and De Ceglie.

Bring in Masi and possibly Criscito and our Mercato would be perfect.

Yeah let's play without subs. Iaquinta retired ,a Martinez is on a verge of a loan move together with Rossi, if we don't sign LWB Ziegler deservs a shot

I meant if we get Criscito then we can sell Padoin and loan Rossi out as then we can use Asamoah as a CM. If not, then keep one of Rossi or Padoin so Asamoah can be used as the LM. And either way keep Pepe. That's more than enough subs.

we have 38 games in serie a, more than 10 games in UCL ( at least I hope more), and we have coppa plus ( ibeg god no) injuries and players form.... we need all of those players

Criscito would have nothing to do with Padoin playing. Padoin plays on the right, in the center or in the center of defense. Criscito exclusively plays on the left, possibly as a LCB but there is already Peluso, Ogbonna and obviously Chiellini.

The changes you're suggesting are too radical to be played out in one month. Depth is crucial, it is what separates Juventus from other teams in Italy. When you're playing 50 games and challenging for 3 trophies every Padoin matters, he does the job when called upon. He's not on big wages, he doesn't complain, he's just a worker and he's necessary.

Also wingbacks are a position that in Conte's Juventus it is better to have a couple extra than to be a couple light.

Selling two strikers and grooming another seems plausible and logical. I think Matri could stay, I have a feeling Vucinic and Quagliarella are on the way out- just a hunch.

Hey Devi, Iaquinta did not retire... He just is free agent currently.
There is no way we are selling Llorente Ziegler style... Juve wanted Llorente since when? Winter of 2011? He was the guy "We were looking for" as you say...
I say its Quag and MAtri... Though I believe that one of them should stay for depth.
Edit: Yeah, just saw Matri's goal on youtube again and I think that he is not happy

Apparently SKY are saying Juve will sell two strikers because Boakye will join the team on August 9.

Seems like Boakye is going to be that 5th striker.Its a very good idea but i wonder if he's going to play much.Encouraging move though.
