I think Roma put a deadline for their players, where they can't leave after certain date. They did this with De Rossi last year and that's why we failed to get him. So this will either get concluded quickly or we might be too late. I've dismissed any rumours linking us to any right-footed CBs, but this might be true since the journalist is reliable, we'll see I guess, but I'm not overly fussed about getting CBs after Rojo.

I think this will be an eventful week and I'd like to hope that we will throw whatever money it takes to wrap up signings we need.

It shouldn't be this hard to tie up Roja, but it is. We are comically bad at transfers. Don't get your hopes up, Woody will find a way to fck it up somehow.

Yeah, he was also too close to Young at times too. I'm not sure if that was him trying to help Young because Young is not a natural LB. However, it left a big gap between Blackett and Smalling. Smalling didn't shift to the left to narrow the distance either.

You're on a negative emotional trajectory from last season, which is understandable, but van Gaal means what he says.

And that is:
He doesn't care so much about transfers and buying players, but about getting your players to play as a team and reach their level.

Which is what he said after the game.
He didn't say 'It's dissapointing our players are not good enough' but he said 'It's dissapointing we didn't play as a team, the players did not reach their level", and "you have to keep shape".

He's working on them, and you need to take a deep breath and see what happens.

If you wanted a summer of desperately throwing money at every big name you should have kept Moyes.

After last summer, I think the fans have a right to at least panic. It's a lack of trust in Woodward more than anything. It might be only depth signings, but it could have really got us 3 points if we got the players in before the weekend. Young at LB, Januzaj at RWB, shouldn't be happening. Fletcher has been over used as well, this is a guy that was close to retiring last year.

However, is Reece James injured as well? Then you'd have James and Shaw injured, and Lingard was the kid supposed to play RWB where I thought he looked great in preseason, was it against Roma?
So it's more injuries than lack of depth.

I think you still have actually too many players, except at CB.
