I personally don't downplay Di Maria's contributions. I just don't do as fans outside of the RM fanbase and make him seem like he was the be all and end all. We certainly wouldn't have won the UCL without his contributions. Just as we wouldn't have made it without Ramos' legendary equaliser, Pepe's stout rearguard action, Modric's playmaking, Ronaldo's goals, Benzema's overall play, Coentrao's performances, Carlo's astute tactical and calm mind, etc.

As for fans changing their opinions depending on situations, 2 years ago, Mole was praising Pardew. Heavily. Now he probably wishes he just disappears or evaporates and takes Mike with him. Not uncommon for a fan to change their mind on a footballer...

DiMaria is the current in a long list of ostracised players. Will get his turn soon when its Rooney's turn to be ostracised

Honestly he brought it on himself, before he was benched he was being lazy just walking around and a turnover machine. This is probably a lesson that no matter who you are you are not indispensable

Fellaini and Young were in a worse situation than him recently. Look at them now. Di maria's success at Man U depends of the manager because the dude is class.

I would do that in a heart beat his fault for going after the money rather than big trophies and success. You reap what you sow as they say. He probably came in and thought they would all work for him while he chilled out because he won trophies and one of the best players for Madrid but thats not how football works unfortunately

He will get his chance soon and I am pretty sure his attitude will have made a 180 degree turn. It's not like United are unambitious, they are trying to improve their backline and getting some more midfielders. They will be loaded next season

In United I think it will take time, next season he will again be tired and injured when he will give 2250% to compensate his talent in the CA15.

Last season was his peak. Carlo found him a role that played to his strengths and hide his weaknesses. Iirc Malouda had a similar role when the Italian was at Chelsea.

Ronaldo has picked up in the last month or so. He is turning it on again at the right time

I would argue 11/12 was his best season but last season would rival that

Its not over at all. Mata, Herrera, Young, Fellaini all were frozen out for long periods. They have made the comeback and have become key players lately. So as long as Di maria want to be here and continue putting a good shift in in training just like the above players did, he will get his chance.
Next season hopefully he will beast again.

He's played that role everywhere in his career other than under Mourinho which coincidentally was the most inconsistent period of his career up until now.

He was fine at Yanited until he got injured and since then he either hasn't played or played out of position, none of this is surprising and it won't change under Van Gaal as he's getten results and he's stubborn person at the best of times.
