Maybe. I have read that this was Bart's game. That's the reason he preponed elections by a year. By the summer of 2016 Laporta would have been much more prepared and very powerful.

The board didn't win the treble, players + coach did. Bartomeu wanted to renew Tata ffs.

I am no board sympathizer but I strongly disagree with this sort of statement.
Whether we like it or not,the current board deserves a lot of credit for the sporting success of the club.
If they rightfully get the lion's share of the blame for everything that goes wrong, then they should also get a proportionate amount of credit when things go right. And a lot of things have gone right on the sporting side during the Rosell/Barto reign. They have had an unprecedented amount of success in terms of trophies and deserve a lot of credit.

You say the credit must go to the players and the coach.Who hired Enrique in the first place? If most agree that Enrique deserves a lot of credit for our success, then by extension credit must also go Rosell who hired him. Most of their first team coaching decisions have been sensible. When Pep left,he recommended Tito and everyone said it was the right thing. After Tito stepped down, everyone recognized that a change was needed.Hindsight is a wonderful tool but when Tata was appointed, most everyone thought of it as a calculated gamble(and one that was needed).

Neymar has been an integral part of our treble run.Who got Neymar from right under the nose of Uncle Flo?Leave aside the ethics of the transfer for a moment. You claim that the board did nothing for the treble so right now I am only debating the sporting side of things.
Fact is Rosell got Neymar for us at the expense of Mehdrid and he has helped us win the treble.
Without Suarez,we dont win jack this season.Who got Suarez? It was certainly not Laporta.Again credit must go to the board for getting Suarez.
Rakitic scored a goal in the CL final.Who got Rakitic? The same board you claim deserves no credit for our success.

I think the board deserves tremendous credit for leaving the sporting side of things to the coach and giving him complete operational freedom.Unlike the idiot from across the pond, they have left the sporting decisions to the coach and it has paid rich dividends. They get the players the coach wants, dont interfere and in return expect results.Seems quite sensible to me.Compare that to the circus across the pond.
I think they have also done a tremendous job at not letting all the controversy( most of it their own doing I admit), affect the team. They have done a very good job at shielding the team from all of it.

Does the board have its faults?Yes,it has a lot of faults. From a purely ethical standpoint, I want them gone. They have besmirched the name of our glorious club.
But from a purely sporting perspective, they have done spectacularly well.It is grossly incorrect to say that we have won in spite of them. They deserve a lot of credit for the success we have enjoyed.

alex, its great to read a different perspective from what the majority are saying and your post does seem to me to be a fair assessment.

I remember having posted a one liner some time back that quite strangely Zubi actually got things right at the time of getting fired. These people took decisions that most of us fans (not including you) were against such as the purchase of Suarez and it's they, not us, who were proved right.

So yes we shouldn't be taking away their credit for doing a few things right even though they have done a lot of wrong as well.

I think the most important point in your post is that these guys don't impose their will on the team. It's laughable to read that the president of Madrid tries to control who comes and goes and at times maybe even who plays. At least our boards, both this one and the previous one, left such matters to the coaching staff. Yes an alternate thought is that the coach may be there only for a short time which is why he shouldn't be given complete control over transfers. However when power holders like Perez who don't even understand football start making decisions about who to buy and who to sell and theirs is the last word then it becomes a complete circus. Thankfully that doesn't happen for us.

However at the end we all agree that this board has besmirched the name of our club and that's why we want them gone.

lol If Messi had the character of a Maradona he would erase Bart from Barca memory with 1 sentence: "Vote for him and I'm leaving." Done dealio. Obviously he isn't like that though.

Barto hasn't been treating him well though so I think he could say a word or two and seal the deal.

Yea his relationship with Laporta is great and he had that feud with the board back when they said he shouldn't be getting a raise every year or something like that.

Can you elaborate on what Bart has done to annoy Messi?

That was just one guy, Javier Faux. Very rarely does Messi speak out against any individual publicly but in this case he lambasted Faux. Ultimately Messi got every single pie of the raise he wanted as far as I am aware. So why should this cause any issues between him and the board?

From what I have heard he discussed selling him. Probably many more things besides that.
